You won't be disappointed by this restaurant. You get a LOT of food for your money, the service is friendly, and all of the food is tasty. That being said, none of the food was particularly remarkable. But it seemed to be a really nice and reliable place to go when you don't feel like cooking.

My partner and I went expecting a wonderful New Year's Eve dinner and left feeling taken advantage of. Our appetizers, a conch fritter was burnt (and sent back) the melon and prosciutto appetizer consisted of sliced melon with the prosciutto lying on top (not wrapped nicely around as one would expect). The salads came, one was a large portion with lots of dressing the other much smaller with no dressing. Our main courses, crab cakes and shrimp in a tomato sauce were equally as bad. The crab cakes were packed and dense more like a hamburger and were as close to burnt as you could get, thus most of it was left. The shrimps were over cooked and chewy. The tomato sauce was very thick, more like a spagetti sauce than the light tomato sauce offered in the menu. This was our experience at the Pompano Grill.

Having lived seasonally on the space coast for the last 10 years we have been frustrated with the lack of "great seafood" although there is an abundance of seafood restaurants. The Pompano Grill was suggested to us by a friend and we finally found our authentic seafood restaurant. The fish is fresh and all types were available: grouper, cobia, wahoo, pompano, tuna, snapper and on and on. The three of us each had a different fish entree and all were thrilled with our choices. The fish can be grilled, sauteed, or blackened. There is a choice of three sauces as a side; we found that although delicious, the fish were perfect without them. The service is slow but attentive. It was nice not to be rushed. The prices are extremely reasonable; our bill for three adults with a bottle of wine and one shared appetizer was $117 including tax. . It is a small, intimate space which is nice but if you have a loud table next to you like we did it can be distracting. Overall, this is a great local restaurant with terrific seafood, great servers and an amazing value.

We had five different fishes as a fresh catch to choose from and chose Wahoo. We had never tried Wahoo fish and did not know what to pair it with. The waitress offered all four sauces on the side of the grilled fish. What a great option! The only option that was not offered or mentioned was chimichurri sauce, but since it was a steak fish the chef added it as a fifth sauce option. Knocked it out of the park!!

Everyone raves about the fresh fish and well seasoned dishes. Nobody is giving the fresh sauces their due!. The coconut/banana sauce with the shrimp/scallops is perfectly sweet, curious and exciting. The Cesar dressing is fresh (not bottled) complete with the flavor of anchovies. Our Wahoo steak fish came with a chimichurri and Thai peanut sauce that was a perfect match. The pilaf rice had Indian spices that was an unexpected pleasure.

Waitress was friendly, but in her youth lacked experience (goes for everyone at some point). Decor was out of place for food that refined. I expected hush puppies on the side, not fresh Bearnaise sauce. Bread was fresh loafs with hints of caraway, but was forgettable (need quality biscuits or Italian hard rolls) . Bathrooms were behind the kitchen so you could see the clean workspace.

We will be back with a larger appetite next time.
