This hotel is older and small. It was very noisy at the bar until after 12 am. I had to call the front desk to ask them to keep it down. After calling they did turn it down the music. I think it was more the guests that were loud, not the hotel itself. This hotel is not on the beach, but is directly across the street, and has easy walking access to the beach. The staff was nice and friendly. The breakfast had a nice selection, and was free. This hotel is used mostly for one night stays before boading your cruise. The cruise shuttle picks up directly in front of the lobby for a small fee of $4.00 per person. The cruise shuttle was friendly and on time. The hotel staff is helpful with booking your shuttle pickup. I would stay here again when cruising out of port canaveral.

Room Tip: Pool rooms are a nice location but could be a bit noisy

Stayed at the La Quinta for one night Saturday March 10th. I had an excellent rate from Hotwire. This is a basic motel with clean rooms and a good free breakfast. My room was on the second floor and I could not locate an elevator so I had to lug my suitcase up the outdoor staircase.
One negative is that the room entrances are facing the parking lot. Between midnight and 2 AM there seemed to be a party in the parking lot. No music, but loud talking and laughter. Initially I thought they were saying their "good nights" but it went on and on. (Oddly enough I had a similar experience at the only other La Quinta I've ever stayed at in Knoxville a few years ago).
All in all not a bad experience for the price, but it wouldn't be my choice for an extended stay.

Stayed here for two nights in August 2010, should have been a lot longer, staff extremely friendly and welcoming, received cookies at check-in, they were great. This hotel once belonged to the original seven astronauts from the mercury missions and there is a plaque to commemorate it. The room was very clean and included a fridge, microwave, iron, hair dryer etc, our room overlooked the pool. Pool was very clean and heated, with towels supplied. The onsite bar is very good with Pool tables, darts, table tennis etc with children allowed. The hotel provided a hot breakfast which was included in the price. It is a short walk to the beach across the road at traffic lights, directly outside the hotel, there is a pathway to the beach to follow. Just off the beach there is a great bar with entertainment, staff very friendly.

We recently stayed at the La Quinta Inn in Cocoa Beach at the end of holiday to the southern US (we drove to New Orleans for the Mardi Gras). We picked this hotel as it was a good price and was near to the Kennedy Space centre. The hotel war originally owned by the first 7 astronauts including John Glen, there is a plaque about this in the hotel gardens.

The accommodation is clean and tidy and for me it is quiet which was most unexpected as it was full because of various local events. They include a good breakfast (help yourself) that includes hot food as well as the usual buns and cereals and coffee.

There is a great restaurant as part of the hotel complex that serves Japanese and Thai style food. Across the road accessed through a another hotel is a the beach and a beach from bar. The bar has live music on a Thursday evenings in 2012 sponsored by the local radio station Groove.

Overall a good hotel, give it a go.

Mike

Room Tip: Rooms over looking the pool may be quieter and on the ground floor will avoid carrying your cases up...

This hotel is as basic as you get. I stayed here before a cruise because of the recent reviews. We arrived and were looking across the street where the beach was thinking that would be our hotel but it was not it was across a busy street from the beach. Okay we are visiting islands so we will have our beach there, Check in was fine waited on a long line. Was told to park in the am around the building not by the rooms because people need to park by the rooms. Then we get our key card and the transfers that are included with the hotel and also free basic breakfast. So my daughter and I look for the elevated for the second floor, there is none we had to drag out 2 suitcases up stairs to the second floor. When we got in the room it was clean and basic and a sign on the vanity with prices of the towels and pillows if you want to buy them from your room. Then I went to the lobby to ask where there was a place to have dinner and the front desk person Toby was busy with other people and telling them where to go. So then my turn and he sent us to the port canavarl where there were tourist restautrants and very expensive. So i saw a cab driver and he gave us a name of a place and directions right near the hotel that was the best seafood we have had in a long time. So we are back at the hotel and i asked what time should i be out side for the transfer and he says 11:15 not bad i thought because its only about 5 minute drive. Then we go to the room and finally fall into bed and realize the air conditioner is loud all nite. When we wake up in the mourning we have bug bites on us probaly mosqutos who knows. Then we drag the bags down the stairs and have breakfast. They had coffee and juice and bagels and you make your waffels and powered eggs, sausage and bisquets and gravey. The transfer bus came at 11:45 and i asked why we waited so long and the bus driver said Toby was confused about the time. Also when i told him about the restaurant he said he did not like it even though it is a local hangout.

Room Tip: Call and ask if the hotel is on the beach even though there is a pic of the beach on its site.
