“Great stay if you don't have a baby”
Reviewed 29 May 2012

The hotel was ok for the price but it was a pet friendly hotel, and almost everyone we saw staying there had pets, including my dad and his wife who stayed in a seperate room from us. So naturally the carpets were extremely dirty. We have an 11 month old son who after just 5 minutes of crawling on the floor had black feet from the dirty carpet. The room had not been cleaned specifically well, as the bottom of the table in our room was covered in dust and dirt and we were able to see it just from walking in the door. Neither me or my husband are picky hotel stayers and we have no problem staying in smaller rooms with older decor, but we do expect the room to be clean. The room also had a very strong aroma of male urine that was very strong the first day. We will not being staying here again when we return to Daytona later this year.

This small vintage motel is a throw-back to the 60s with bath fixtures from that era. The furniture & beds have been updated. Overall, very clean & comfortable with a nice pool overlooking the beach. We had kitchenette rooms 110 & 111 with beach-view picture windows. Just outside our doors, there were comfortable patio chairs & table under an overhang where we ate some of our meals while we enjoyed the ocean view. The breakfast in the office is minimal - coffee & bagels, no cereal or juice.

Thank you for taking your time to review our hotel. You are 100% right! we are an older hotel where it"s more about the simple things, taking in a breath taking view and holding on to it., staring at the ever moving ocean and time stands still. Breakfast is a work in progress but still enough to get you moving where we are more than happy to direct you to one of the world famous breakfast eateries such as Peach Valley where the food makes your mouth water. We are very happy you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you in the future. Thanks again. :))

I assure you we were genuine customers with no prompts whatsoever....The rooms may need re modeling (from older decor), some things needed attention(and they were taken care of immediately) but nothing that was earth shattering.....It was clean, The Staff (all shifts) were all very nice and the Owners Sweethearts. I enjoyed my 7 day stay and would return to the Rodeway Inn again.....: )

Daytona has deep historic roots for family owned motels/hotels and this is one! I have spent many nights, weekends, and even weeks at daytona beach but this was my first at the Rodeway Inn. We were greated warmly and asked to excuse the mess account renovations were going on. I was then surprised that my credit card has already been processed before my arrival (usually this is done only when there is a default on the reservation). The entire facility is old with lots of new paint, NO renovations. Painting is not a renovation. Some updating has been done poolside, but the rooms were as they were 40 to 50 years ago. The beds were acceptable. The windows were all broken(glass was ok, just would not stay open) and screens were present, but frames were all bent. Door trim in bathroom was rotten at floor on both sides. Curtains were not properly hung and old. It was nice to have a bed, but was nice to leave too. This place is a solid 2! I am confused by other reviews higher, which leads me to believe the hotel is using SHILL reviewers on tripadvisor.

We stayed here for 4 days, in March 2012 for a short family vacation. While the hotel is certainly older, it is pretty well kept. The property offers a good location, right on the beach, and has a beach side pool. We did have a problem with a Choice Hotels Gift Card, that we had bought from a fund raiser for our sons school. The front desk clerk, swiped the card several times and then said it had no balance. But, I knew I had not used the card. While everyone was polite and nice about it. I had to get Choice Hotels Corporate involved to fix the situation and get a refund. It took 3 days to get this straightened out. Who wants to sit on the phone trying to fix a mess when you are on vacation? This should have been fixed in 10 minutes as the receipt showed the credits from the gift card. So because of this I don't think we would stay there again. Other reviewers are correct about the tight parking lot, but had a compact so it didn't really matter.

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and courteous staff that went out of there way to make us feel right at home. We usually stay at larger area hotels however, being the festivities of "bike week" and spring break most hotels had no vacancy, We are both happy we chose this hotel. Private beach access, beautiful pool deck and great restaurants within walking distance. We will definitely be staying here on our next visit.

by trying to save 20.00 i went from having a possibly great night to a very bad night of sleep. the parking is the worst i have ever seen, saw 2 cars scrape their fenders trying to maneuver in the tiny parking lot. the hotel is so old their is no possible aesthetic improvement possible, they must tear it down and start over. the young lady at the front desk was very very sweet and helpful and the location on the beach was great. i will never try to save 20.00 again on one hotel night, its just not worth it.

Room Tip: spend the extra 20.00 and go somewhere else
