This is a beautiful property in many ways. I am giving 3 stars due to my percention of the cost-to-value. This property is pricey, which I didn't mind, but I think I just expected a little .... more?
First, the positives. Can't beat the views. Staff are wonderfully friendly. Room was spacious and had everything (almost) that you could want in a high-end hotel room. It was reasonably clean. Ordering beach-side service was a fabulous perk! The "free" snacks in the lobby were a nice touch (which I'm sure are covered by the cost of staying there, but whatevs....) It's quaint, and private, and felt very relaxing. (no kids!)
OK, the negatives: The room, while very comfortable, was not what I expected at that price point - specifically, the towels were cheap and thin, the linens were very generic, and the bed, while "fine", was not what I'd have expected. I've had more comfy hotel beds at a moderate priced chain hotel. And No full length mirror in room - (this is just a pet peeve of mine) The a/c seemed to be either freezing or too warm. The ONE elevator was slower than a snail! We ate two meals on property - breakfast once (pretty good!) and dinner once (mediocre). Our mediocre dinner - with no alcohol or dessert - was over $200 after tip. Breakfast was also quite pricey, but I understand paying for the convenience of eating on property. At check in - no one asked if we needed help with bags. We didn't exactly need help, but I was a little surprised by that.
The weather was horrendous when we were there - no one's fault - so we spent a lot of time in the room. (One entire day rained so hard and tornado warnings were all around - it was truly not safe to venture out)! So since we only had a few days there, we didn't get to enjoy much of the outdoor amenities. We had a few hours to enjoy the beach and we did order drinks on their phone app. Sweeeet!
I guess my point is - there's nothing really WRONG with this property - but I booked it for our 40th anniversary as a splurge. I expected to feel like I was splurging. I did not.
