Just returned from a family vacation to Hawk's Cay with 4 teenagers. Hawk's Cay was the perfect choice for us. Our original villa was in the Duck Key Villa's. It was not what I had expected, as it was very dated, and needed some TLC. From what I understand, each of these villa's are privately owned, and decorated by the owner. I immediately complained at the front desk, and was upgraded to the Sanctuary Villa (#7209). This was the best move of our whole trip. The room was perfect for a family of six. We had our own "small" pool, which the kids enjoyed each evening. We had a very clean kitchen, which we used for breakfast each morning. We did have to request more towels. No problem getting them. They don't service the villas each day, but that was fine by us. They do empty the trash each day. We did have our own washer/dryer, to keep up with the dirty clothes.
My only complaint would be with the restaurants. We ate at the Beach Grill for lunch on 3 different days, with the same problems with service each and every day. (and they tack on the 18% gratuity). Compared to the staff elsewhere in the resort, the beach grill failed miserably. Slow to take our order, and even slower to deliver our food. (all the while, most of their servers were just standing around, watching TV). Meanwhile we did have a wonderful meal at Tom's Harbour House. Food was excellent, and service was fine.
The water sports area was Great! We rented jet skis, went wake boarding, and enjoyed the sunset cruise. The guys there were absolutely the best!
We will definitely return to Hawk's Cay's Sanctuary villa's!
