1 Duval Street. Can you really get a location better than this? You are at the center of everything. Mallory square and its famous sunrise is right behind the hotel and the whole Duval street is in front of you.

Then there are these amazing rooms and service that the hotel offers.

You would not go wrong one little bit if you book this hotel. The views from the rooms are awesome and so is the way the hotel is kept up.

When in Key West, this will always be my hotel. All I have to do is, park the car with the valet and go to all the happening places here.

This is just very amazing.

Room Tip: try the waterview rooms.

This was our first trip to Key West. Loved this hotel and location. All staff were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. We were welcomes treated as if we were very special. We had a room overlooking Sunset Pier so great for the music and watching the sunset from our balcony. Grerat food at the Hot Tin roof restaurant.

We could not fault this hotel. Would we go again? You bet we would!! Highly, hghly recommended

Room Tip: Choose an ocean front room facing west and watch the sunset.

We went to the Hot Tin roof as soon as we got in for our 10th anniversary dinner. Many people were celebrating special occasions, but our waiter made us feel like we were the most important people in the room without neglecting anyone else.

Hot tub and pool were lively but not overcrowded.

Room was excellent, once we figured out what switch turned on the jets on the jacuzzi!

Sunset Pier was everything you look for in a tiki bar, good munchies, good music, relaxed atmosphere and tropical drinks.

Concierge worked very hard for us. She booked us on a sunset cruise, and set us up with the best table at Latitudes beach restaurant.

Check in and check out was flawless, they were able to coordinate parking our car, delivering our bags and getting us to our room as one fluid operation, and reversed the process just as elegantly upon checkout.

Room Tip: View from the fifth floor, west side, was spectacular.

OK, this was our first trip to Key West, so it is admittedly without comparison. That being said, though, I can't imagine it being possible to find a better hotel in key west. Its in the busy section of key west, which we preferred. People staying in other hotels had to walk by / walk to this hotel to partake in a lot of activities.

- Its right at the busy end of duval street, which is great. Mallory square is right there, as well. We would go to dinner, walk over to Mallory square, swing back to duval to grab some dessert and then go to our balcony to watch the sunset and eat our dessert. That can only be possible at this hotel.

- You get a better view of the sunset from your room (if you're on that side, which you should be) than all of the people who show up at Mallory square or the Sunset pier.

- The pool is right on the boardwalk/pier. You sit in the pool and look out at the ocean. You can even watch the sunset from the pool / hot tub.

- The rooms were great. We stayed in 512. Which is a balcony room that was upgraded to a suite. Make sure you let the front desk know you are celebrating an occasion when booking. Maybe that helps.

Some negatives:

- The quality and variety of the food wasn't great. Pool fare was OK, for pool food. The sunset pier had the same menu, though. One day we ate lunch at the pool and planned to eat dinner at sunset pier, but left when we saw it was the same menu. We at breakfast at hot tin roof, we both got eggs and found them oily. We didn't go back. Not a major issue, though, because the hotel is in such a good location that there are tons of other food options close by. It gets you out and about to explore town a little more.

- We couldn't connect to WiFi in the room. It was a pain since we planned to facetime with our little kids. We found that we could connect in the hallway. We probably looked like crazy people in the hall facetiming with the kids.

Like I said, there are a couple negatives, but I can't imagine how it could be possible that there is a better hotel on Key West. It was very expensive, which makes sense. Certainly worth it. We can't wait to go back to key west, and there is no way we will stay at a different hotel.

One last tip, rent mopeds. We rented two for all day for less than $100 and it was a blast.

Room Tip: We stayed in 512. Anything high up and on the ocean side are great. Mention a special event when booking, it might help you get upgraded. We were upgraded because we were celebrating my graduation from business school.

We came to Key West for only one day and were glad to spend the night at the Ocean Key. The hotel itself could not be in a better location. It is just footsteps away from all the best bars and restaurants (yet it is still secluded and quiet) so you can go party if you want or just relax at the hotel. At sunset there is a huge gathering right next to the hotel which is really cool, a beautiful sunset! The facility is absolutely amazing, the pool area is to die for what an amazing view. The room was nice, big bathroom, tub in the room, and comfortable beds and a nice balcony! The only thing I wish this hotel had was a beach to go swimming in the ocean but it is a short cab ride to some nice beaches. Nothing ever went wrong so I didn't even need to talk to any of the hotel staff but they seemed nice.
