After a bad experience at the Banyan Resort the Key West Chamber of Commerce found us a Suite at the Travel Lodge. Although an older motel it was well maintained with a nice water front view. Breakfast was alright if you just wanted waffels, bagels, cereal and coffee. Good enough to start the day. Staff was extremely courteous and supplied needed staples such as tooth paste and extra coffee.

Room Tip: Ask for a suite. Although a little expensive well worth the upgrade.

Reception was fine. The room smelled strongly like some covering deodorizer. The room was very small. The free WiFi in the room and lobby was adequate for email and Facebook, but not for YouTube nor other video viewing (not unusual). The breakfast was pretty good with waffles, fresh fruit, bagels, muffins, cereal, milk, juice and coffee. There was a good coffee maker in the room for single cups and powdered creamer. We stayed three nights. The room came with one bar of hotel sized soap for both sink and shower, so we had to pass it back and forth. The maid didn't give us another bar of soap the next day. For the second maid service we left a note asking for soap, and the maid left us three bars (with one night to go). The disposable coffee cups were not re-stocked by the maid, and we ran out. The pool and Jacuzzi were very nice with bathrooms down in the area. Reception loans out beach towels. The pool is right next to the four lane highway. Rooms with the Gulf of Mexico view face the highway, but get the sunsets. The TV is operated with two remotes and there are no instructions, so we called reception for help. While trying the WiFi in the lobby we heard the receptionist fielding calls for the same question of how to work the TV. Funniest quote of the vacation from the receptionist, in a polite tone, "That thing in your hand is the remote control." The hotel has free parking, and is at most a 10 minute drive from the furthest Key West attraction. It felt like we were paying a lot, but one must take into consideration that Key West is popular, and so even modest hotels charge what you would pay for a four star hotel in Miami. The air conditioning had low and high settings. Unfortunately, we couldn't achieve a comfortable sleeping temperature. Low cold was too cold, and off altogether was too hot (high seventies). The staff created noise right outside our door after 11pm at night. The first night I was woken up by someone sweeping. The second night it was someone dragging and banging a maintenance cart.

Room Tip: Ask for a Gulf of Mexico view. Although this side faces the highway, it also has a view of the pool...

I considered the Travelodge & Suites Key West based on the other Positive reviews found on TA.

This property is older and on the main road so there is traffic noise when you're at the pool area but unless I wanted to be over critical and unfair those were the only things that you could consider as negatives about this hotel. On the other hand you could not hear traffic noise while inside your room and the hotel also provides free covered parking with elevator service which Is a definite Bonus!

We found the staff to be exceptional from the moment we checked in; especially Ann Marie! There always appeared to be an adequate number on hand at all times to care for the guest and property's needs.

The pool and spa were in excellent condition, always had more than enough pool chairs available and were covered with a mesh material for comfort, the pool area was always organized, clean and an attractive setting sounded by various palm trees and other beautiful tropical landscape.

The complimentary breakfast was more than satisfying with a waffle maker, fresh fruit (apples & oranges when we stayed), a nice variety of dry cereal, pastries, bagels, coffee, several juice choices and all the necessary condiments.

The rooms were again older but kept up very nicely, fresh paint, newer carpet, comfortable beds, pillows and linens; Bath & Body Works toiletries are provided which we thought was a very nice choice on their part and certainly an upgrade over the normal found at other economy hotels.

We were fortunate to stay in a one bedroom suite (201) at this location (actually felt more like a one bedroom apartment); complete with full kitchen, dining area that seats 4, a stacked washer/dryer and breakfast bar with three additional chairs to sit at and have a meal. The balcony has a plastic patio table and four chairs; gives you a nice view of the bay across the road and is accessible from either the living room or bedroom through sliding door walls.

Updates that would make 201 really fabulous: replace kitchen linoleum, TV's to flat screen, having matching entertainment armoires (or one in the living room without scratches and chips), update kitchen cabinets and appliances - But none of these suggestions had any effect on our comfort or caused us to have a negative impression about the hotel.

We also toured one of the three bedroom suites before leaving and would not hesitate to return with our three adult age children and stay in it on a future trip to the Key West area.

One thing we did notice was that the suite we stayed in smelled fairly heavy of cigarette smoke upon entering, but that improved when running the AC, I reported it upon check out and the friendly associate at the desk seamed very surprised as all suites are designated as Non-Smoking (unfortunately some guest do not care about hotel rules and will smoke anyway).

She stated the hotel has a special machine they can place in the rooms to remove odors like that, she sincerely apologized and said she would note it in the computer that it needed to have it done.

Over all it was a very pleasant experience for us and any minor negatives were far outweighed by all the positives; we would not hesitate to stay at the Travelodge & Suites Key West again in the future or encourage our friends & family members to stay with them when traveling to Key West.

I did quite a bit of research and I can assure you that this is by far the best value you will come close to finding in the area; especially when you consider the friendly/competent staff, complimentary breakfast, free covered parking and a clean sparkling heated pool and spa to enjoy!

We stayed at the Travelodge in Key West from March 1 to 3 2012. The hotel is very well maintained, staff seemed to be constantly making sure the property was in good condition. The reception staff was very accomodating. We arrived early but the found us a room and we were able to get checked in which we appreciated after the drive down from Miami. We had a standard room which was a good size, plenty of space for 2 adults. The pool is large and not crowded only about 3 or 4 people every time we went there. The hotel supplied a great breakfast, waffle maker, cereal, muffins bagels, juice and tea or coffee. This was a great way to start off the day. The hotel also has covered parking which we liked as your car wasn't hot when you went out. The location is good on US1 and a short drive to the downtown tourist area. Price wise this was a bargain compared to alot of hotels in Ket West. I would stay here again.

We traveled with another couple by motorcycle from West Palm Beach to Key West!
Upon our arrival at the Travelodge Suites in Key West we were greeted with a friendly front desk with a very accommodating attitude…!.
Then the incredible experience the ‘suite’ extremely clean – full facility,(kitchen-washer dryer) 3 bedrooms- swimming pool-
And balconies facing on one side the water – a step out from the bedroom or kitchenette- upstairs more ................
Spectacular views of Key West!
We were all (4 of us) more than pleased by the Travelodge Key West!
Going to Key West???? Stay here!!!
Quiet custom sound-proof doors- spectacular view of the sunset- and in general- a very relaxing stay- the hotel is 'older' but what isn't in Key West???

Room Tip: stay in a suite!

We stayed at the Travelodge for one night while we traveled to Key West. We stayed in a 3 bedroom suite. It was very spacious with 2 balconies and had a full kitchen even a washer and dryer which was nice. The hotel is very dated, but the view makes up for it. We sat on our ocean front patio for breakfast and enjoyed the weather. The pool is very nice and the free breakfast adds a nice touch. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful.
