In March, my family and I stayed for 6 nights at the Santa Maria Suites. Our decision was based solely on the positive reviews reflected in TripAdvisor, and we could not have been more pleased! First, the location was ideal. We were close enough to the restaurants and action on Duval St., but at the end of each evening, it was great to be welcomed back ”home” to our quiet retreat by Wolfgang working the front desk. We loved Wolfgang’s enthusiasm for life and hearing his stories! Second, the suites had every amenity we desired, and they were modern and exceptionally clean. However, if the extra dollars are available, go for the single level suite instead of a bi-level suite. The bedrooms and living room are much more spacious, and there are a lot less stairs to deal with. Third, the pool area was like a beautiful, private paradise with nice music playing in the afternoons. The only occasional disruption was the whirring sound of the blender making complimentary smoothies for guests as they soaked up the sunshine. We also stayed at the Boca Beach Club and the Ritz Carlton during our trip, but it was the customer service provided by Derek which really made our trip memorable. No request was ever a bother, and he went the extra yard recommending restaurants and helping us to schedule our daily excursions and activities at discounted rates. He worked long hours around the pool offering guests water, snacks, and fresh towels, and his easy-going manner made us feel very comfortable. Lastly, we must mention Ken, who also worked the front desk. He was very helpful, professional, attentative and a pleasure to speak to.

To all the staff who we did not mention by name, please know that you made our trip extremely enjoyable, and you made it very difficult for us to leave!

This was not at all what we were expected. We came for Spring Break with our daughters and have been to KW numerous times. Had read all of the reviews and expected top notch service and amenities. The rooms looked nice with modern decor, but our room was disgusting! The sheets were never changed before we arrived, make up stains in one room and blood in the other. If this wasn't enough, the whole place was dusty. At $500 a night, I think we could get a clean room! After explaining to management, we didn't even get an apology! The pool was very small and not at all what we expected. This establishment may have been acceptable nice 20 years ago, but would NEVER recommend to anyone. We moved our stay to the Westin Resort at Mallory Sq and had a wonderful time with a huge suite that had clean sheets everyday!! A beautiful pool and sunset from the balcony.

SantaMariaGM, General Manager at Santa Maria Suites Hotel, responded to this reviewResponded April 3, 2011

The Santa Maria Suites has always strived to exceed the expectations of our valued guests. Without getting in the specifics of the above stated review, every attempt was made to satisfy the concerns of the guest. We regret their dissatisfaction, but as the totality of our Trip Advisor's reviews reflect, their experience was an anomaly and not the rule or expectation of the resort.
I invite you to read our other Trip Advisor reviews and encourage you to visit our website to get a better picture and perspective of our resort. Or even better come visit the Santa Maria Suites resort in person.
Thank you,
Steve Mungall, General Manager

I traveled with three kids, ages 18,16, and 10. My parents, in their 70's, also stayed in a separate bi-level suite. The units, overall facilties, landscaping, and location were all stellar. We stopped at Winn Dixie to stock up on a few daytime necessites. The pool was lovely and Derek took care of us, plus gave great restaurant suggestions (El Siboney, Half Shell Raw Bar).

Nordi also set up an electric car service, gave us discount coupons for the aquarium and butterfly sanctuary, and booked us on an unforgettable ferry ride to the Dry Tortugas.

I would agree with the one reviewer on the cleaning of the rooms. They cleaned them very late, often after 4. In addition, a couple times they didn't empty the trash. Perhaps there are just not enough to get it done quickly. Otherwise, everything else was impeccable.

When there, visit Two Friends Patio, Turtle Kraals, and Rum Barrel for good food and live music.

Room Tip: Ask for Suite 15,16, 17, 33, or 34.

We had a two-room suite steps from the pool. We were so pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the room was, as the pictures on the website do not do justice to the actual room.
It was more like a condo than a hotel room. We had friends that stayed at a beautiful resort, but every day would come to our room because it was so great to hang out in.
The amenities were fantastic, with free water and smoothies by the pool, free muffins and turndown service in the evenings.
We were able to walk everywhere as the location was fantastic.

There's a reason why their are no terrible reviews.....Santa Maria suites is that good. If your looking for a relaxing stay in a quaint little resort without any stupidity, Santa Maria is your place. Pricey Yes...but you get what you pay for. The 2 bedroom suite was excellent from the marble and tile kitchen and bathrooms to the beautiful grounds. The pool was small but nice. Overall I had no complaints, other than the lacking gym facilities.....but who goes to Key West to workout right. Look forward to returning.
