First warning - if you are used to staying in 3 star or better hotels , you will be very dissappointed, so stay away.

the title is very telling. This is an old time resort right out the the 1970's. multiple 2 story buildings with Outside doors, and the big windows over an AC unit.

The property shows its age, no matter how much effor is put in to keeping up appearances, think of that past-her-prime single lady at the bar with the over dyed hair, too much makeup, and a dress style that is 2 generations younger than her. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but know what you are getting going into the relationship and you will both be happier for it.

More speciifcs - metal railings (which have been repainted) stilll show rust and corrosion in multiple places - watch running you hand under the hand rails. teh gates to the pools are not level and scrape teh conrete making a racket everytime they are opened - even worn grooves on teh concrete. the metal fencing around the pool not very sturdy or straight. the door to our room was hard to shut (had to use key even when leaving) and still had to really force it to close. The condensation from the AC unit made the carpet near the door damp. Just to give you quick idea of the age issues.

On the plus side - the rooms were clean. I was a bit skeptical of the cleanliness and did a "white socks" test by rubbing feet across the carpet with the whitest socks i had on. they came up surprisingly clean. There was a suspect light stain on one sheet. bathroom was clean.

Teh grounds, altough dated, were clean. The pools were clean, and there was not trash around the complex. It had some nicer amenities, like a kids playground, multiple pools and hottubs, a "natural beach" with paddle boats, plus ball fields. I would not go to this property specifically for these amenities, but could be a plus for the right person.

Teh number one advantage to this property is price - it was CHEAP!!!!! we paid less that 40 per night. For a just a place to rest your head after a long day at the theme parks, it was a great value. It was evident that was what everyone did, because the place was empty all day but the parking lot was full late at night.

Take this same property and place it in most other cities, and i'd very suspect of the clientele. but i never felt nervous with a sketchy crowd. In fact, mostly newer, nicer cars in teh lot, and no nefarious looking types were ever seen hanging around.

It was about a 15 min drive from disney - even with traffic, but would be on teh wrong side of town to be convenient to sea world or universal. There are lots of stores and restaraunts very close by.

In summary, if you are looking just for the cheapest, but safe and clean, place to rest your head after a long day at the theme parks, this is not a bad choice. But know what you are getting into, or else could be very dissapointed.

Its a pitty to write not good things, specially when you are writting about your vacations, that should be a pleasent moment. But, this hotel let us down. At the biginning we arrived and a very rude frontdesk called Leticia told us that some boxes arriive there to us. We sent an email telling te hotel about these purchases weeks previous the trip, but nobody returned. And to our surpirse Leticia said that a fee os US$ 5 per box should be paid and that there was not a warehouse but a hotel. Yes, that was our reception at the first day. we negotiate the price, since we were not warned about thie fee when we sent an email telling the hotel about them. After that we went to the room, it was:
--> Dirty (hair on bath, blood at the door...)
--> The blanket was so dry and hard that seems a homeless blanket
--> the bed was tiny and badly fit us (we are a small couple!!)
--> all the furniture was old and the building need a goos manteinence

Besides all that we discovery that no breakfast was included.

I ting it worth paying a littel bit nore to stay at a good place, where you feel good, because its your holydays no?! A time to feel fine and not receive a angry face and words from Leticia.

We first stayed at this hotel in June of 2011. The rooms were clean , pool was clean, etc. Only dislike was the lack of available channels on older tube tvs (which we didn't watch much anyways as we spent most of our time at the parks)We liked it so much, that we knew then we'd be visiting again. At the time, much work was going ,with what seemed like numerous contractors, cleaning companies, etc. It appeared as though they were building a pond with waterfall, while also remodeling some of the rooms. What was truly great was how inexpensive the hotel was and how accommodating the staff were.

Fast forward to March of 2012 and the difference of the grounds from the previous year is amazing. There are two very large ponds now ( I estimate at least an acre in area), with white sand beaches, multiple waterfalls, lounge chairs, fire pits and even peddle boats, all at no charge. There are beautiful plants, landscaping throughout the area, with bridges, a small stream, gazebo and more. It is BEAUTIFUL. The volleyball courts, soccer/football and baseball fields are all immaculate, while the basketball courts are terrific. This place is kept C-L-E-A-N! And, while it wasn't as low-priced as the previous year, we still managed to come very close by perusing the various "deals" sites. The only downsides were that the largest of the two pools, the covered one was supposed to be heated... it seemed to get colder as the week went by, and was never truly "clear". Meanwhile, another pool was unheated, but spotless. The concern being that when you swam in the area of the pool light, you'd get "tingly" as there is an obvious issue with the electricity making it best to avoid. The rooms are the same, as are the older tvs, with minimal channels. Biggest disappointment staying here was the lack of functional equipment in the fitness room. Most of the equipment was inoperable during our stay.

PROS:
Relatively low cost if you're smart.
Beautiful grounds to enjoy.
Accepts pets.
Multiple pools.
Within walking distance of a couple of local restaurants, within 1-3 miles of many chain restaurants, Publix, etc.

CONS:
Starts to get expensive if you're not careful booking (prices ranged from $33 a night to $65 online). They also charged a $3 resort fee at check-in , which may come as a surprise to some. Unfortunately, they will be raising it to $7 a night.
Pools need better maintenance.
Tube televisions with an extremely limited channel availability (less than 20, only nicktoons for kids, no nick or disney, etc).

Room Tip: Can't stress this enough...Shop online for the lowest price. It's the difference between finding a great deal, or an okay deal. If the room is under $45, I say it's a good deal.

We booked one night at Champions World Resort via BookIt. Our first room never got below 80 degrees, even with the air conditioning blasting, so, after a very nice maintenance man came to check on it after midnight, we were assigned to a new room. The original room looked shabby and the sink was old and cracked. When we entered the second room, it smelled musty like the first one, since the a/c was turned off, but since this room's air conditioning unit wasn't digital, it seemed to work better than the previous one and we were able to get the air down to a manageable 75 degrees overnight. The sink was also in better shape. I put our drinks into the fridge to keep cool. I only got the fridge to make noise after I plugged the plug into another outlet, but in the morning we found out that despite the noise, it had not worked at all. Just for kicks, we also tried the safe, which did not lock and turned on the analog TV set, which featured just a few stations and a snowy picture. All in all, I have stayed at nicer Motel 6 properties, and there at least I was not expecting a "resort." A family who checked in before us had driven all the way from Indiana with two young children to spend their spring break week at this property. I felt bad for them that we all ended up in such a run-down motel, because I know Orlando has much nicer places available for comparable and even better prices. The staff person at check-in was quite slow, but the one at check-out apologized for us having to move rooms at 1 a.m. and was nice and efficient, and probably somewhat embarrassed by all of the things that did not work in our rooms.

Room Tip: Don't stay here!
