Just 15 minutes from Sanford this provided us with a convenient central base from which to explore the Real Florida (that is, keeping away from all things with a theme park, as we've done those to death on previous visits). We got the East Coast (Space Centre), Tampa (Florida Aquarium) and Kissimmee (shopping) very easily.
The Villa is being updated and the fully-equipped kitchen and master bedroom were more than adequate for our needs. A little more light in the lounge area would have been appreciated but moving to the dining area (to read maps etc) resolved that.
The bungalow backs onto a large lake (not Lary Mary which is close by and bigger) and despite us keeping a sharp lookout we never spotted an alligator. The occasional ibis and heron did visit us, though.
It was amazingly quiet and serene, although you might hear the freight train sounding its distant whistle during the night if you happened to be awake at the time. Sound carries across the water astonishingly well!
The superb washer & dryer ensured we could wash our clothes very easily and quickly (I wish I had such huge machines back home).
If you've stayed in a modern, upmarket villa in the Kissimmee area then you probably need to modify your expectations; this is a residential bungalow (and all the more charming because of it) in a non-tourist area. I've knocked off a star because it's still being renovated (it would appear) and the wifi was absolutely appalling with both phones and laptop having huge difficulties even getting a connection. Once connected, it was appallingly slow and disconnected often. A pity, as we were investigating places to visit from the comfort of the lounge sofa and this was frustrating. We had no difficulties connecting to any other (free) wifi in the whole of Florida, such as malls and restaurants. This really needs to be sorted out.
The wifi notwithstanding, we enjoyed our visit and had a great time. I recommend you visit Sanford town (its quaint shopping main street only opens at 11am!) and surrounding areas. And the St John's River cruise that departs from Sanford was brilliant and so easy to get to from this bungalow.
After a day's excitement, we were pleased to return here, grab a drink from the enormous fridge (which also gives ice and filtered water, thank goodness, no more lugging huge water bottles from the gas station) and relax in front of the TV.
In the end, I'd describe the villa as cute, quaint, homey (UK: homely) and just a nice place to stay. Thanks, Bill & Sue.
