This was our first trip to Longboat Key, and we really really enjoyed it so much, we will certainly return. We originally were trying to stay on Siesta Key, but since the April school break coincided with Easter, everything was booked solid. The other family that we were vacationing with suggested Longboat, because they had heard great things about it. So that is how we selected this place. If you are looking for a private, low-key relaxing beach vacation, just steps away from your condo door, this is the place for you. We were pleasantly surprised! The website does not truly do the place justice. Each of the two units our party rented was immaculate, tastefully decorated and updated, and so very comfortable. The mattress in the unit we rented was more comfortable then the one we have at home! Our condo was on the first floor, and included its own patio, table with umbrella, chaise lounges, as did each unit. There are charcoal grills available, as well as clean picnic tables for use. The beach is steps away from your unit. Our friends had the unit right above us, which was perfect. In the future, though, they will try to stay at ground level like we did, because it is much more convenient. Just off the beach is the awesome heated salt water pool, with a very nice patio, lined with chaise lounge chairs and a couple of tables with umbrellas. This was so great because when you have enough of the beach, you can mosey on over to the pool! The beach is SO PRIVATE, barely anyone was on it and it seemed like the resort was booked! The beach and water is so clean, no trash at all. The water is crystal clear, like the swimming pool! The shells are lovely (think Sanibel quality but less than Sanibel).

The only suggestions I have are that we wish the resort included paddle boards, or kayaks, or even tubes or floats. We had to go to the store and buy tubes and floats and games for our group because there was nothing provided. The waves are so calm and the water so gentle that people rented paddleboards and bought rafts to float around. So it is allowed. And it is also allowed in the pool area. They did have two inner tubes at the pool for the general public, which was good.

I would also request that umbrellas be added to the pool patio area, in case people want to get out of the hot sun, like we did. The pool closes at dusk which is sort of a bummer, because it stays light later and the pool was packed with people (although not overcrowded). However, I do understand that due to the fact that there are condo units overlooking the pool, they probably want to give those folks some peace and quiet. Otherwise, we would stay there again. Really one of our best vacations.

Room Tip: First floor rooms are steps away from the white sugar-like sandy beach!

The resort is well located beach front. But room 252 is the worst. I will give you what drove me crazy and you judge for yourself. Can not turn the thermostat below 72 which is located in 2 BD bedroom under air conditioner vent with no sunlight in the room. The rest of the aptment is windows that face the ocean. Only problem if you open the blinds the room will be above 80 degrees. To keep it under 78 I had to keep everything closed. The small bathroom was so small if I used the toilet my rib cage was in the toilet paper holder. This could have been avoided the problem was who ever decided to furnish this place has no idea about functions. If you are looking for the kitchen lights put your hands behind the refrigerator, where else would you look for a switch , These are just a few of the redickulous things in this condo. And if you happen to walk to the bathroom at night be prepared to walk into furniture because these people seem to think a walkway between objects only needs to be one foot wide. The living room TV has broken twice, but have been waiting 2 days for it to be fixed for the second time.

We have booked again for 2017. This is our 4th year in a row. Clean. Daily maid service. Booking 216 next year for the second time. If you like fancy high rises, don't waste your time, but if you are beach bums like us, this place is perfect! Great value. Great service!

Room Tip: We like ground rooms. Parking is tough as some don't obey the rules and bring several autos.

Wanted to stay on Anna Maria, but could not find what we wanted. Stumbled on this place and am very pleased. Rented unit 247. Full kitchen with stainless appliances, granite countertops, nicely furnished and nice decor. Wonderful view with private beach and plenty of beach chairs. Neat and clean, and everyone is so friendly. Thanks Roger and Merry!

We had a great vacation at Seahorse this week on Longboat Key. Longboat is a beautiful island with a mix of upscale resort and older condo resorts. Seahorse is no frills but very well maintained with a friendly staff. The rooms are right on the beach with amazing views. We kept our door open to the sounds of surf. Our kitchen and bath were nicely updated. My only suggestions for improvement would be a new mattress and better wifi.

We were really pleased with Seahorse Beach Resort and will be back!

Room Tip: 2nd floor rooms have great views of the beach and gulf
