A family owned and staffed authentic French restaurant on Longboat Key. The room is unpretentious with white linens covering the walls. You start with a modest selection of two breads and butter, but when the amuse bouche appears there is a first hint of something special. The blue crab appetizer was an original creation wrap of cauliflower mousse. The foie gras risotto was also quite good. Both chilean and med. sea bass with crisped skin were excellently prepared. Then cocolate soufflé was light and fluffy. Entrees are priced around $35-45. Apps are $15-20 with truffle and foie gras offerings higher. There is a prix fixed menu at $65 which, although somewhat limited in choices, will allow some substitutions. Service was appropriate if not exemplary by a small staff. We were pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the meal.
