The most delightful stay - well worth the journey!

We decided to take a couple of days to explore the Baccalieu Trail in Newfoundland and discovered Grate's Cove - we are so glad we did. We loved our Snug Harbour cottage, the beautiful scenery and hiking at Grate's Cove and most of all the amazing meals and hospitality served up by Courtney and Terrance. I would have never expected to have some of the best meals ever in such a remote part of the world but they truly were, all made with fresh local ingredients. The Ramen and the codfish salad were simply spectacular and we were made to feel completely at home and so welcome. If you want some peace, beauty, wonderful hospitality and food, i can't recommend Grate's Cove more! thank you Courtney and Terrance for a wonderful experience. Also, loved the new outdoor spa!

Room tip: Snug Harbour or the ocean view room in Harbour House

Six Stars!

I stayed for two nights at Snug Harbour House. The house is lovely with a deck that has an ocean view. It was so quiet something a guy from the city appreciates.
There is lots of great hiking in the area. And now the roads are paved which wasn't the case the first time I was in this part of Newfoundland a few years ago.
Courtney and Terrence are excellent hosts, very accommodating. By all means eat at Grates Cove Studios the meals are delicious and such large portions. There are also workshops and and experiences you can arrange beforehand. I am already going back in August for a weekend!

Room tip: Snug Harbour House within walking distant to the studio and restaurant.

Loved it!

So quaint and so totally unexpected in such a rural setting!
Amazing jambalaya. Selection of records to play. Spectacular view. Cool studio to browse. Friendly hosts.
What’s not to love?

PS. Just stock some tin milk fer me tea next time lol. Definitely gonna be back to try out the seaweed bath house when it’s up and running

Delicious food and best hosts ever!

Courtney and Terrance provide the perfect getaway experience. The room has a gorgeous view and a very comfortable King bed! The food was so nourishing and Courtney’s Louisiana flare in the flavours were out of this world delicious. The Cod Étouffée with Crab was the most delicious I have had in my entire life. Courtney and Terrance were so kind and very knowledgeable about the area, I learned so much and the hikes were beautiful! Terrance is a very talented artist and storyteller and the Cajun spice and seaweed lotion are amazing.

Thank you so much Courtney and Terrance. We will definitely be back.

Easy for Celiacs to eat here

We visited Grates Cove Studios at the recommendation of our Inn Keeper and it was just as amazing as she described. This is an eclectic, but charming little restaurant in an old school house. The fusion of traditional Newfoundland and New Orleans cuisine was superb. Almost every dish could be made gluten free. As they are a small restaurant, I recommend calling 24 hours ahead of time to let them know you will be coming and have food allergies. I had the gluten free vegetable pancake and it was divine! Another reviewer stated that this place is overpriced, but I disagree. The food quality was wonderful, the service was excellent, and the view was spectacular! If the saying is true that “you get what you pay for,” then one shouldn’t complain about a moderate price for the outstanding culinary experience that is Grates Cove Studios.
