I visited the restaurant again after a great lunch two years ago. With all the Covid issues, we needed to book a reservation and we were the only ones in the place. So casual and the food was excellent - fresh greens from down the road, fresh fish and cooked with a wonderful flair. I would take the cooking classes if I lived in the province. We had a warm "berry" tea, perhaps patridgeberry. The hostess told me how to make the Korean pancakes but I would rather just return again. I also bought the hand cream (again) and this time some new products from their company "7 Fathoms". They only thing I would recommend is more signage, maybe on the main road and in front because you could drive by and miss it and that would be a loss for a tourist. These owners are great entrepreneurs who now offer tours and accommodation. I look forward to returning.

The warmth of your hosts, Courtney and Terrence is surpassed only by the excellence of the restaurant's cuisine with its unique and wonderful Cajun-Newfie collusion. If your idea of heaven is hiking all day on trails that reveal great grandeur of the rugged Newfoundland coast and then soaking in a seaweed bath (that I SWEAR has a narcotic effect all its own), while overlooking the ocean, with a glass of cold, crisp Chablis, then here's your place....
Did I mention the excellent cocktails? My omission.

We decided to take a couple of days to explore the Baccalieu Trail in Newfoundland and discovered Grate's Cove - we are so glad we did. We loved our Snug Harbour cottage, the beautiful scenery and hiking at Grate's Cove and most of all the amazing meals and hospitality served up by Courtney and Terrance. I would have never expected to have some of the best meals ever in such a remote part of the world but they truly were, all made with fresh local ingredients. The Ramen and the codfish salad were simply spectacular and we were made to feel completely at home and so welcome. If you want some peace, beauty, wonderful hospitality and food, i can't recommend Grate's Cove more! thank you Courtney and Terrance for a wonderful experience. Also, loved the new outdoor spa!

Room tip: Snug Harbour or the ocean view room in Harbour House

I stayed for two nights at Snug Harbour House. The house is lovely with a deck that has an ocean view. It was so quiet something a guy from the city appreciates.
There is lots of great hiking in the area. And now the roads are paved which wasn't the case the first time I was in this part of Newfoundland a few years ago.
Courtney and Terrence are excellent hosts, very accommodating. By all means eat at Grates Cove Studios the meals are delicious and such large portions. There are also workshops and and experiences you can arrange beforehand. I am already going back in August for a weekend!

Room tip: Snug Harbour House within walking distant to the studio and restaurant.
