Really a 4-star hotel with some 5-star touches

This was a confusing review to write because there were some great things going for the hotel that makes it a 5 and there are other things that drags it down to a 4 - but ultimately I decided to give it a 4.
Real good things
(1) Thank you Ana and Claudia for making our lounge breakfast special everyday - they went and talked to the chef and ensured we had something Vegan to eat everyday - this is exceptional service and hard to get even in 5-star hotels - hats off to them
(2) decent lounge breakfast but could be better
(3) We got upgraded to a suite - spacious and great views
(4) Spa was great - my wife and daughter loved the experience there
(5) Fitness room and bowling alley were real nice
(6) Valet folks were great

Not so great things
(1) Services oscillated between good and bad - there was a lounge check in person who knew nothing about how to be nice to a customer, same my checkin experience was lukewarm at best - they pulled up the wrong reservation and confused me and when he realized his mistake didn’t apologize - but there was a lady at the checkin lobby who was real nice - so service at hotel is dependent on who who you are dealing with
(2) Room was clean and comfortable but certain light switches didn’t work, bathroom flush didn’t work and was repaired, etc - I think the rooms need updating/inspection to ensure everything works fine

The JW Marriott Marquis Miami is NOW my favourite hotel in all of the USA! Watch the full review on YouTube at Luxury Vegan Travel.

There is so much to see and do at this hotel and the hospitality was so good I thought I was in South East Asia! In the video, I introduce you to some of the team.

The chefs made bespoke dishes for us at breakfast and in the evenings and the food was sensational!

We booked 4 nights originally and were then due to check out the JW Marriott down the road in Brickell but during our stay, I cancelled the JW in Brickell and just stayed here. Later, I visited the JW Brickell whilst on a walk and it was so busy – there was barely any room to walk around in the lobby. I think there was some sort of voting going on but still the feel nad vibe at JW Marriott Marquis was unbeatable!

Excellent value for money! Great sized rooms and the best sofa bed I’ve ever slept on!

When I return to Miami, this will be my home away from home!

Thank you to Chef Elliott and his team, the executive lounge team, in particular, Denise, Fouad, Jessica and Tristine!

Hotel was basically good
Staff were very accommodating.
I was informed by hotel rooms were renovated, this was not the case .
The bathroom was very outdated and the toilet very low .
The lounge was not open on Saturday however breakfast offered in the restaurant.
Many of the items on the web site were not offered .
Sunday no access to the lounge
Even for Coffee.

Staff is excellent. Very friendly and helpful. Some did not speak English but made an attempt to help to the best of their ability. Rooms are completely ridiculous in the layout and function. Card key must be in holder at front door in order for the bathroom lights to work. Stupid!! The bed frame and the desk frame have sharp edges which are easily impacted when walking around the cramped room. Both of us have bruises from hitting the corners several times. The desk takes up too much of the floor space and should be much smaller and less obtrusive in the room. Whoever designed the bathroom is an idiot. One sink for a couple or a family; are you kidding? And the sink was never cleaned the entire time we were there. Porcelain sinks are easy to clean with disinfectants because they are smooth and easy to sanitize. These sinks are some stupid design with cracks and crevices that are perfect breeding grounds for bacteria. Not once was our sink cleaned our sanitized while we were there! Only one bathrobe and two bottles of water. The refrigerator is stocked with beverages and can't be used for anything like your water or medicines. You have to ask for another refrigerator to be brought up. What a pain! No guest informational booklet of paperwork explaining what the hotel has, locations and so on. Apparently, you have to waste time figuring out everything on the TV. Small breakfast area with overpriced food. Several eggs, 2 coffees, oatmeal cost $105.00. Don't waste your money. Walk around the corner to Whole foods. Room cleaners never emptied trash can and overflow piled up next to desk.

Room tip: Do your homework before choosing this one.

Spent a fortune for valet parking provided by the hotel and had a very expensive pair of sunglasses stolen.
It took months of correspondence for them to FINALLY reimburse my uncle with a new pair, which never arrived.
So he ultimately went out and bought a replacement pair....
If JW Marriott doesn't stand behind their guests, holder third-party vendors accountable or at the minimum, even value their guests safety and belongings, then I won't ever stay there again.

The Best Marriott we have ever stayed in. The staff is absolutely perfect and the room was amazing along with bed and those fluffy pillows that make you sleep all night. We stay at the JW Marriott in Savannah all the time , which is very nice but the staff is definitely no comparison to the staff in Miami . We will be coming back to JW Marriott in Miami very soon ❤️
