The hotel simply did not feel like a JW, but more like a re-badged Marriott. Bedding was inferior to a typical Marriott, with lumpy improperly installed mattress pad that was uncomfortable on the shoulders. Bathroom was missing shower mat the first day and nearly fell on slippery tile. Bath amenities were no different from any Marriott. Insufficient flush for toilet. No light inside closet and entryway light is on same side so it's impossible to see in closet. Turn-down service decided to be housekeeping and took away a glass INSIDE the cabinet (room service manager corrected this). Wireless service was slow and sporadic so I had to resort to wired, making it impossible to use that comfy looking leather chair with my laptop. Bars close far too early and have very limited and overpriced selection. Mystery charge for minibar appeared on bill...while removed by front desk, I don't appreciate this game.

The good things I have to say are for the hotel staff, who are professional, attentive, and go out of their way to help. But even they seem to recognize the inferiority of the hotel and its management (this was reflected in comments I heard directly and indirectly).

All in all, a MAJOR disappointment after having stayed at JWs elsewhere and come to expect so much more.

was here for a week on business, used most of the facilities. Needs more casual food options, has a lot of formal, $$$ options. Rooms are updated, great flat screen TV. Nice bathrooms. Had some issues with people going a little too nuts late at night watching the NCAA tournament, but security got them to quiet down.

Very friendly and eager staff. Sleepy part of town after 6 pm, not much to walk to or see, but close enough to jump in a cab or public transportation.

Construction on Brickell is a nightmare, so allow extra time to get in and out of the hotel.

Wifi is spotty, sometimes strong, sometimes pathetic.

Small, somewhat claustrophobic workout space, but put on your iPod and just get your workout in :)

Room Tip: I would ask for a room facing the bay, will keep you away from the sometimes bad traffic noise at night.

I have been trying to resolve my issue since the fall and no resoultion. The hotel is nice however the level of customer service is awful. I was switch to 4 different rooms with-in 2 hours. The first room had a red stain on the floor, 2nd room power went out , 3rd room another guest was taking a shower and finally a good room. After reaching out to the hotel i was told there would be no comps at all.

I was there for business and it was a comfortable stay and easy to get to various locations from this point. The staff members i encountered were all quite helpful.

My partner and I booked a vacation package from Miami to Cancun and stayed downtown Miami for 3 days before and on Miami Beach for 2 days after our Cancun trip to see both sides of the city.

We loved Miami Beach much more than Miami itself!! So much livelier! A lot of this had to do with the location of this hotel. The hotel is in the Financial District so the streets were bare every time we were on them as there is no retail etc just offices in this area.

There was a nice little intersection with some nice restaurants on it a quick walk away but other than that we felt like we were an awkward distance from things. Too close to take a cab but just far enough that it was a long walk. This is solved by the free metro line the hotel is very close to which can get you out of the area....but its never nice to stay in an area you cant wait to get out of all day and night.

The room:
The rooms were ok. Nothing special. Bed was veery comfy but the room was muggy and very average.

We had a lot of problems exchanging money in Miami since our hotel was not only not near anything that could help us with this typical tourist practice (odd since it's in the financial district), but also because the staff could not and would not try to name a place we could cab/walk to do this. In contrast, we went by the Holiday Inn on Bayside across from the market to ask them where a money exchange place was nearby since they were the closest hotel to us at that moment and we thought they might know how to answer this touristy question (I always pop into nearby hotels when I am out of town if I have questions about the city as the day goes on since they are in the tourism business so always know the answers and are always ready to court new guests). The cheaper Holiday Inn helped us despite us not being guests and pointed us to the nearby Western Union (Miami tip: exchange all of your money before going it was a real headache exchanging it there for some reason).

All in all, the much less prestigious Holiday Inn seemed to be just as clean and comfortable with better service and a much better location for tourism (by the Arena, Bayside Marketplace, and the bridge to Miami Beach) and I imagine it would have cost a lot less...

This hotel is well suited for business trips but not worth the price or travel time for a tourism trip. Maybe if it were super nice it would make it worth the poor location but alas it is not...it is average.
