“Great spot for lunch in South Beach”
Reviewed 19 April 2012

We visited Havana 1957 for a wonderful lunch on Palm Sunday while visiting South Beach. It was a gorgeous day and we sat outside, which was very pleasant. The service was very good. We split a sandwich (the Pan Con Lechon) and both loved it! I enjoyed a Hatuey beer which was fun, as we had not tried that beer before. A very good and memorable time- highly recommended.

Great Staff, Great Service, Great food, great drinks! Reall,y what else could one ask for. Ok it did not have Ocean views, but is located for some great people watching. As a footnote, we had a party of 11 folks. They seated us quickly and were very helpful.

Nothing exciting here... uninteresting average appetizers and nothing to write home about drinks.

“Awesome service and food, great ambiance... Two thumbs up!”
Reviewed 4 April 2012 via mobile

After not walking into another restaurant because of the price, we opted for this one which seemed inexpensive enough and seemed cozy. We were there for a short supper but ended up staying a bit and enjoying the view of people walking down Española Way -- awesome crowd.
Our nice hostess took us through a choice of tables (we got there by 6pm, so we had choice...) and chose a small 4 person table outside at the back. With my 8 month-old son, it's not easy getting around, but sure enough they offered a chair "para niñitos" (for babies), which we accepted gladly but couldn't use because it's an old wooden chair that can't be adjusted at all. Nonetheless, they had a kid's chair... In a place like this!
We ordered a ensalada cubana, shared it between us 4. Very good.
Cocinillo, churrasco cubano, camarones al ajillo, y pollo especialidad a la cubana. All main courses were great. Cocinillo (pulled pork) was great, churrasco was just a little bit overcooked, camarones (shrimp) were too pricey for the quantity, and the pollo (roasted chicken) was awesome and had a double portion - we were expecting a quarter, we got a half chicken.
The frijoles (fried beans) were absolutely delicious, mix them in with the rice, they are wicked! Even asked for a take out portion!
For dessert, pastel tres leches (3-milks cake), and flan. OMG, we died and went to heaven! They have these made by hand by someone outside the restaurant, but they ran out when we ordered. The guy actually came and brought in some more at the back - we saw him come in! It took a long while for dessert to come, but it was SO worth the wait!
Our hostess and beautiful cuabn waitress were über-nice and fell in love with our son, they managed to play around with him until it really got crowded!
When it got to around 8pm, there was a line-up. Make sure to get there on time!

One recommendation? I've tried a little cuban restaurant in NYC, they had corn on the cob with lime juice and cotija cheese, bbqed - not boiled. These guys should have that, it would rock the entire street! You can even have a roaming bbq bike selling the corn and pushing the name of the restaurant! Awesome!

“great spot for lunch and people watching”
Reviewed 4 April 2012

We had lunch here after passing by while on an art deco walking tour. The staff was friendly and the service was okay. If you like your water with ice, you'll have to ask....we had to ask more than once and still didn't get any. The atmosphere was wonderful-the restaurant itself is great and sitting on the sidewalk patio made for some great people watching. The food was very good and it was such fun to get a taste of Cuba while visiting Miami!
