Delano South Beach Hotel

The only really good thing about the Delano is the pool. I wonder if there's a way to just rent on of the cabanase instead of actually staying in the hotel? My opinions:

1) If you decide to paint every single surface in your hotel white, you have an obligation to clean/bleach/paint it enough to ensure that every possible stain doesn't show up. Curtains, rugs, floors, walls all had stains and the like so that the pristine white was really just a beat up, overused off white.

2) The hotel really hasn't been well taken care of - some windows were painted shut, knobs missing, mattress not comfortable, painted cement floors (if you get them wet, you will fall down), the ceiling and windows in the workout room were leaking puddles onto the floor, the air conditioners basically had two settings - freezing and humid. This place is old, as most things are in Southbeach, but maintenance is lacking and it really shows.

3) For what this place costs, they should be falling all over themselves helping you and bringing you anything you want. The pool staff and the bar staff near the pool were friendly. Everyone else was just not terribly interested in helping guests.

4) The food is good, but not excellent.

5) The beach is good, but not great.

6) The thing that really annoyed me was the cheapness of the place - why charge $800 per night and then have uninsulated ice buckets with no tops so the ice melts in 10 minutes and there's a puddle all over your desk? Why even have a workout room if half the equipment is not working and there are puddles all over the floor and you have to walk through the garbage area to get there? The bathrooms are so tiny that put unusually small toilets in them so you'd be able to walk into the shower... again, why?

A cool vibe at the pool can only take you so far. I won't stay at the Delano again.

Room Tip: I'm not sure there are any good rooms, but ours faced the side street and was a little noisy. T...

From valet opening car door even in the rain, staff was attentive to all our needs. That weekend it rained but you would never know by the way they kept the walkways dried. The rooms were immaculate with crisp White linens. We even had a white iPad programmed for hotel in our room to use anywhere with complimentary Wi-Fi, pretty cool amenity. There isn't a detail missing and very cutting edge. The new restaurant was amazing..Umi sushi bar was great too, try the Crab hand roll.. Wow! Can't wait to return for Sunday Brunch.

Was very excited for our girls trip to the Delano....until we got there. For starters, the rooms are SMALL, painted concrete floors (don't get them wet because you will slip and fall), no drawers to unpack, bathroom you can barely turn around in, and lots of noise coming from the street at night. Upon arrival we went immediately to the restaurant because we were famished. Ordered 3 Cobb salads (these were the size of a side salad in a normal restaurant) and 3 drinks (my Martini was $20!!!!) This lunch cost us $120 and we were still hungry. While we were eating, a bird which was perched above our table on a fan, pooped on our table twice - the waiter could not have been more put out by our request to wipe it up! We asked for more bread (they gave us 3 slices) and it took almost 15 minutes to get it. The next day we needed a rental car at 9am to get to an important appointment and were told that no one could help us with that until 10am when the concierge was on duty - unbelievable - especially when we did it ourselves and found out the Hertz rental office was about 4 blocks away! A hotel with the reputation that this one supposedly has should have MUCH better service than this one had - Never again - they blew it.

Need to let everyone know what a great time we had several weeks ago at the Delano. My friends and I headed down to sunny and groovy South Beach. All I can say is WOW. Starting with Bloody Mary's at poolside in the morning followed by massages at Aqua. We felt like a million dollars and were treated the same. Dinner at Bianca was probably the best Italian food I have had and I am from NY!!!!! The entire staff could not do enough for us. They made you feel right at home. We can't wait to head back down at the end of the year. We made a pack, this will be a annual trip. Can't wait.

Would have given an excellent overall rating but i must complain about the new restaurant which is shockingly over priced and the smallest portions on huge plates, a shame because the food options and sizes were excellent before, we had to eat at the Front Porch cafe on Ocean to get a filling breakfast, we did stay 10 DAYS so it wasnt for the money, we would have had to order a lot to get any satifaction, we also noticed while sitting in the lobby a few people coming back to the hotel with bags of food and coffee bought from outside for breakfast. BIANCA WONT LAST.

OTHERWISE an excellent stay as always friendly polite staff.

Try the meaballs on roomservice menu....amazingly yummy

Room Tip: Some bathrooms are bigger than others, when small they are really small.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. I'm certainly glad you were able to enjoy all of the offerings at Delano. While we are thrilled to hear that your overall experience was very good, your point on Bianca pricing and portion size is dually noted. We will certainly take your feedback under advisement. Looking forward to seeing you again soon!

Many Thanks,

Lee
