“7.5 out of 10 - Good Value but Not Perfect”
Reviewed 24 February 2010

We checked-in to Room 203 for a two-week stay. Not sure how long this room had been vacant, but there was a hotel service directory covered with mould spots sitting on the table to greet us, along with a distinctly musty smell in the room.

Both problems were quickly fixed. Picked up a new directory and gave the mouldy one to the front desk staff. Opened the patio door and turned on the air conditioning and the mustiness gradually disappeared over the course of the day.

Hot water (the lack of it) was a problem for one day. We reported it and it was fixed by day's-end.

The room is on the second floor in one of the "wings" of the building. The Dock restaurant is mere paces away and a great spot to eat, right on the water. The bathroom is smallish but adequate. Decor is "seafarer" style and each room is individually owned, thus uniquely decorated. Likewise the newness of the decor varies with the unit. Balcony is large with two chairs and a round table. A nice touch - there were a few extra folding chairs stored in the bathroom storage area. Came in handy when we had company over to the room.

View from the balcony is great....Naples Bay. Always some activity among boaters and folks walking along the docks. Saw a few dolphins frolicking on Day 3 right in front of the main lobby entrance from the bayside.

Pool was fine....nice and warm (almost 90F), which was appreciated due to the unseasonable cool weather during our stay.

There is a smallish "observation" area just outside of the lobby on bayside. Two patio tables with umbrellas and 4 chairs each plus a couple of loungers offer a great vantage point....that's where we saw the dolphins!

The Chickee Bar is located on the dockfront adjacent to the pool. You need to be an Inn guest to use the bar. Note that this bar is shared by the members of the Naples Yacht Club. If you don't like cigarrette smoke, you'll skip the Chickee Bar. It gets a bit noisy at times but closes at 10 PM.

Speaking of noise, the on-site coffee shop is packed every morning. We went with another couple for breakfast......a bit overpriced and the seating is cramped but the place has - shall we say - character. But NOISY! You can eat at the bar or at a table. No credit cards accepted. Lineups are common.....a server will come out into the lobby and yell your name to indicate a table is ready for you. Seems a popular hangout with the locals. We gave it the one try and passed after that.

Free cookies, tea and coffee are presented every day in the lobby from 3-4 PM. Nice touch.

Wireless internet is available but very spotty as you get further away from the center section of the Inn. The Cove Inn's wireless was not even visible to my computer from my room. A free public network was but it was very weak. We found we had to move toward the lobby to gain access to the Cove's own network, which is very strong when you are within range. We got used to using the small Library (right next to the lobby) for Internet since the reception was excellent, as it also was in and just outside of the lobby.

Daily housekeeping service was friendly and quite thorough. Bed was comfortable. Air conditioner doubles as a heater and we needed both alternatively during our stay.

A Sony Bravia 42" flat panel HDTV provided excellent viewing, and the cable service is ACTUALLY HD and not just a stretched SD picture as many hotels provide. Watching the Super Bowl on it was stunning.

There is a ceiling fan in the bathroom above the sink. Odd place for a ceiling fan. No other ceiling fan in the room.

Smallish fridge and stove were adequate for our needs, but we saw a few other rooms that contained full-sized fridges.

The Cove is within reasonable walking distance from the local tourist traps like Tin City, the 3rd Ave shops (the ones that have not gone out of business yet), etc. The Naples Beach is about a 15-minute walk. A number of very good seafood restaurants are nearby. As mentioned, The Dock was a favourite and it took about 60 seconds to get there from our door.

We also made a couple of friends....two Muscovy Ducks who like to sleep on the rim of a large fountain located just below our balcony.

Conclusion: We would stay here again. It is a unique accomodation in Naples, with character and some flaws as mentioned. For the price, however, there is nothing nearby that comes close.

We loved our stay here, if we had more time, we would have tried to stay another night. Our room was big and well decorated. We had a fridge, microwave and coffee pot. The only bad thing was the bathroom, it was very small, but sufficient.....But the view, AWESOME. We sat on our balcony porch and watched all of the excitement of the boaters/boats and the fun at the Chickee Bar. We loved all of this so much, when dinner time rolled around, we ordered Pizza so we wouldn't have to leave the view and the fun.

We stayed here for one night after visiting the Keys for several days. The room we had was very light and airy with a kitchen and a good sized bathroom. Our balcony overlooked the Marina and we were able to check out a lot of boats and the people that owned them. Since we're from Kansas that was a treat. We ate at the open air restaurant connected to the marina. It seemed to be very popular and the food was great. Also check out the Cove Inn Coffee Shop. A delicious breakfast and super fast service. It's like a down home cafe--very friendly with lots of regular customers--the waitress knew most of them. We would go back if given the chance!

Watching Dolphins in the marina from the balcony was a highlight.

The room was clean, comfortable, well furnished and equiped with everything you could need.

We liked the fact iit was in a quiet location and you could walk to the beach or the main street easily so you did not need the car all the time which is often the case in the USA.

Naples is beautiful with one of the best beaches we have been to and wildlife all around you..

We really, really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were great, we were with friends and the staff gave us rooms that shared a balcony so we could have beers and pizza whilst watching the sun go down.

This place has the 'wow' factor for views and location. It is really good value for money, even though the hotel is in a really pricey part of Naples.

Nice big rooms, two double beds, small kitchen area. Decent size bathroom.

Would happily have stayed longer.

The location, in the millionaire's playground in the historic quarter of Naples, couldn't be better and for a room rate of $93 for much of the year it represents fantastic value for money.
This is a collection of owned condos rented out as a hotel, overlooking the bay of Naples with a marina in front together with a pool, great Tiki bar and an open-air seafood and steak restaurant nearby.
There's also a great coffee shop downstairs with excellent, good value food.
Free internet and Wifi in the foyer and the staff we met couldn't have been more helpful and better informed.
Some of the rooms are a little dated but in excellent condition - probably reflecting the tastes of their owners but this adds to the overall ambience of a friendly small hotel rather than an anonymous chain.
Tell everyone about this place if you must but try to keep it for people who'd appreciate a small piece of old Florida.

Whilst on a visit to Orlando we visited friends who were staying at the Cove Inn last year. We had planned to stay 1 or 2 nights, but loved it so much we stayed for 3.
This year I managed to get mega cheap flights to Miami, so we stayed the first night in Miami the foolwing morning we drove down to Naples and stayed for a week.
It was just as we remembered it.
They even gave us the same room that we stayed in last year.
Perfect location, extremely friendly staff and a 15 minutes stroll to the sea to watch the dolphins. The hotel isn't fancy, but everything we needed for our stay was provided.
We had a Bayside room which overlooked the bay and had excellent views and a private balcony.
We chose a Hotel room as we didn't need the extra space and cooking facilities of an Efficiency room.
There is a library with a wide range of literature and free wi-fi for residents. There is also a computer terminal and printer for internet access for that that haven't brought their own laptops.
There are quite a few great places to eat nearby, so we were never stuck for dinner choices.
We are planning to go back next year if funds allow for a longer period (2/3 weeks).

When I rang the hotel earlier this year, they told us to about a site called Roomsaver.com, where we could get a further discount on the advertised prices ($75 instead of $94) if we just walked in and booked a room on arrival, without a reservation.
I called the hotel 2 days before we departed and they still had availabilty, so we printed off the voucher and saved ourselves money.

Now that's what I call great customer service.
We'll definitely be going back.
