Our room was very clean, very outdated, very noisy and desk personnel sometimes difficult to communicate with. There is nothing attractive about the place. Pool area was desolute with only a few plastic chairs to sit on. It is conveniently located and our room had a microwave and fridge, ample towels and shampoos. The price was right at about $50 to $60, not $70+tax. Free wifi was nice to have. Not a vacation place for a week or two.

Room Tip: Stay Pier II, reasonably priced and a better value

Surprisingly large privately-owned motel in Okeechobee. Between December and March is Okeechobee's high season and rooms are somewhat hard to get and expensive. One of the few budget choices at around $70 is the Flamingo.

It is reasonably well maintained, has a nice pool, and the rooms are spacious (if a little sparsely furnished) and clean. The area is popular with hunters and fishermen so be prepared for some late-night noise when the boys come back from shooting the bull at a local joint. Unfortunately the walls are really thin. The TV reception and CRT is quite bad but the Wifi is good and fast. The breakfast area is really small and seems designed to keep you from hanging around. They only have coffee/juice, cereal, and sugary stuff.

I would have given this a "Good" if they hadn't lost our reservation made the night before via phone. That is pretty unacceptable. Had it been a weekend we'd have been in for a nasty surprise. Also, at the very least I would have expected a decent apology from the owner who was on the front desk when we checked in but even that didn't happen.

There are definitely better motels for the money, just not in Okeechobee.

For restaurants there is a decent Mexican place called "Viejo Pueblo" at the mall about a mile north, next to the Tractor Supply Co.

Room Tip: Definitely upstairs - one less source of noise.

We were looking for a place between Treasure Island and Weston on our way south. Most motels were much more expensive and although this one didn’t have consistently high ratings, we booked it online. The big pink motel next to a Best Western turned out to be just fine and we’d book here again. Check-in was fine. Front desk was friendly. Got us cold bottles of water. The room was clean and comfortable with a fridge and microwave. Fast and free internet connection. Beds was a little hard, but slept well. Things to like included tile instead of a rug – much cleaner. Spotless bathroom. Clean sheets. Large room. The price! Not the greatest, but OK - The TV was old but worked well. The breakfast was typical high carb, but adequate and if you want something different, there is a McDonald’s next door.

Didn't tell us there was tax and acted like we were supposed to know because "everyone knows all hotels charge extra" but we haven't stayed in a hotel over 10 years and told my mom her card would not be charged til we left but neglected to tell us that the card would be authorized. We already spoke to the receptionist because the money would not be on the card until Tuesday and she said it was fine but after we got there she said it wasn't. We were given the run around and don't appreciate being lied to.

Stayed for a month, this is the only economical place in the area, its right next to the best western.

Cons: Staff are a bit on the slow side, I asked if they would prorate the last week I was there and they said no, then asked for a reciept to expense it and they were real ornery about giving me a reciept.
Rooms are old.
The water is heavily chlorinated, cant stay in the shower too long.

Pros: Cheap
Quiet

As it is, there are few options anywhere around Okeechobee, only other option is to go stay on the coast.
