After an exhilarating but long walk from Castletownbere we arrived to this restful and well appointed lodging for a lovely dinner and welcoming hosts. Certainly a special place from which to visit Dursey island and explore the wonderful Beara Penninsula.

Well, at the end of the Beara Peninsula anyway. An absolutely amazing location with fantastic sea views from the bedrooms and dining room. Agnes and Paddy give you a warm welcome and make you feel at home straight away. Great area for fishing and walking. Fishing around Dursey Island very good for pollack, mackeral, etc. Good breakfast and excellent value for money. A lovely place.

Staying at Windy Point House Bed & Breakfast has been a real treat. The views from our room were spectacular, the food was excellent & everything looked clean and well taken care of. But the real strengths of this beautiful getaway at the very tip of the Beara Peninsula, can be found in the people who run it. Patty & Agnus are the most wonderful people, who provided us with everything we needed & so much more. They are lovely, cheerful & always there for you. I would surely recommend staying at this incredible place during your stay in Ireland. Dursey Island is well worth a visit & Windy Point House itself makes for a wonderful place to reload for a day or two:)

While at our previous days B&B we called ahead and to see if Windy Point had any room for us on our honeymoon. We wanted to go out to Dursey Island after getting a tip from another traveler. It is the only cable car in Ireland, so it must be pretty awesome area to stay. They had a room for us and we called the other B&B in the area to compare. When we called back, the husband answered and was a little hard to understand over the phone, but the information got through just fine.

The drive out to the B&B is nothing but amazing with 5 star views all around. We didn't expect our B&B to have the same, but to our luck, it was one of the best views we could have asked for. The B&B rests on the side of the hill next to the "main road" (a typical Irish highway, made for 1 small car, will fit two buses somehow).

My wife whispered to me "did you see the breakfast bar?!" alluding to the great selection of cold foods such as nuts, cereal and fresh fruit. We are told that it is for the morning while the husband/wife cook your breakfast. That breakfast couldn't disappoint even the pickiest of people. The salmon and scrambled eggs were topped with fresh chives. Being from Seattle, my taste for salmon is quite picky, but this did not disappoint one bit. Nice and smokey salmon fresh caught from the same water I was looking at in our room. The brown bread was great and my wife enjoyed her breakfast as well.

The rooms were not as elegant as others we had been to, but nothing to worry about. The beds were comfy and could easily be made up with the view. Note, if you want privacy, ensure you close the blinds as guests will walk by your window. The wifi is weak in the rooms as the house is brick/concrete, but its quite the feat that they even have internet this far away from civilization! (Hint, you didn't go here to surf the internet!)

The owners are extremely friendly and was easily understood why the husband was hard to understand on the room. He has quite the Irish accent as he was born and raised in the house next door! A farmer, B&B owner and the operator of the only cable car in Ireland made him quite the character. They were helpful loaning us silverware to go on a picnic with.

The price is about average of all the B&Bs we went to. They only accept cash, so a heads up for that. The nearest ATM is 25K+ away, so plan accordingly.

You simply cannot go wrong picking the Windy Point House, especially for a honeymoon!

Paddy & Agnes are lovely hosts in the superb B&B. Great welcome, comfortable rooms and excellent breakfasts. Wonderful location overlooking sea at tip of Beara peninsula, near the cable car to Dursey Island. We had views of dolphins from our bedroom window on the first morning. If you like peace, dramatic scenery, walking, wildlife and some local history, this is the place for you.

Room Tip: Wi Fi free in shared living room. Percy's Perch, the annexe, is a lovely spacious bedroom with superb views.
