Completely touristic but fun. Food & drinks are good. Service OK. Pretty noisy.

This restaurant boasts belly dancers that dance around the entire restaurant and get the customers to dance with them on their tables and chairs. The waiters throw up stacks of bar napkins that make the environment that much more entertaining, like confetti on new years eve.

The food is traditional Greek, and very well prepared. The lamb literally falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. The pitchers of sangria are worth it when with more than 2 people.

There's a picture taker that will sell you photos at the end of your meal, so get dressed up, make sure there's nothing on the table in your way, and great pictures to take home ($8 key chain or $16 for the 5x7). Way cheaper than Disney, and if you get dressed up it looks even better! Most women were dressed in dresses, sun dresses or tight going out dresses and men in slacks with either a polo or button down shirt. A family atmosphere for most, as the kids can get up on the tables and dance as well.
Only caution is that if you're looking for a quiet dinner to talk, this is not the place. It's a little loud and makes no excuses for it!

You dont go to Taverna Opa for the food, you go to have fun.

We were a group of 8 coworkers who were celebarating the end of a long exhibit at the convention center, and ended up at Taveran Opa because it was the only nearby place that still was taking reservations on Thursday afternoon for Friday night.

The place was relatively small and packed, We had to wait about 15 minutes for our table, which was fine.

The food is a combination of Greek and other Mediterranean/Middle Eastern items, and the place features belly dancers that dance on your table. As in moving your plates so that they can dance. The most important item to note is that there is DJ with a thumping play list and some seriously loud speakers.

I quickly realized that being seated in the middle of the restaurant may be great for seeing the belly dancers and general fun, but placed our group in the bulls eye of the four enormous speakers in each of the four corners of the central room. It was so loud, that I asked the hostess if she had ear plugs. I imagined that for the health of the staff who had to listen to this sonic storm 6 - 8 hours a day, they had to have ear plugs, but they didn't!!
I checked out the staff, the staff did not have ear plugs. Since the music was about as loud as a jet engine on take off, and all airport staff have hearing protection, I felt pretty bad for the staff. They all seemed fine with it.

I saw that some of the prior comments were about the service. We had no problems with the service. Our waiter, by the way, was a supreme professional, and advised us to order a sampler order that provided appetiziers, and assorted courses that were mostly pretty good. He was also excellent at keeping the party going with assorted shenanigans like tossing thousands of napkins like confetti.

While my ears buzzed for about 30 minutes afterwards, and its near impossible to have a conversation, I had a pretty good time with the decent food, and fun atmosphere.

If you can handle the thumping music, and looking for some fun on International Drive, this is your place. If you want to talk to your dinner partners, and want to eat better than average food, go else where. If you do go, don't forget the earplugs!

Loved the food and the atmosphere. You need to book. Try not to order starters as the hummous comes free. The chilean sea bass is fab.

Nothing not to like ... not sure what the food tasted like -- we had so much fun dancing that I don't think I ate! LOL No, seriously ... it was great!
