We stayed in early December. We were in Sugar Loaf, on the first floor, and on the Concierge level. The pool was wonderful and everyone treated us like we were special, including housekeeping who met every request we had. We watched the fireworks from the pool at night and the movies and other activities pool side were a special addition to our vacation, although it was a little chilly out at night. The portable crib was the best gift of all..the baby actually slept! It had a real mattress and the couch that made into a bed was very comfortable. The only two drawbacks, the bathroom area is a little small, and other than the desk with one chair, there is no place to sit down and eat in your room, unless you sat outside on the little patio area. Oh, and the dryers - they need to do something about the fact that even after $4.00 your clothes are still not dry! Nobody wants to spend their vacation doing laundry all day and when traveling with kids it is inevitable you will have to do wash, especially with the weight limits on luggage. Other than that the rooms were quite large and extremely comfortable and clean. Traveling with a family is difficult, but Disney properties always makes your vacation an enjoyable one. Thank you to all the Disney staff for making our family vacation an enjoyable one!

We first stayed in the Grand Floridian in 2005 and have tried staying at other resorts but once you stay at the GF, you're hooked! We checked at around 8:00 am on Sunday, November 27th (Thanksgiving weekend) and were pleasantly surprised to learn that we were given a complimentary upgrade to a small suite and also that our room was ready! I was with my husband and we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. We were checked in quickly and went to our room to unpack. We were on the 5th floor of building #9. Great view of the gardens and pool. The staff was knowledgeable and kind. Nothing beats staying on the monorail line! Sadly, I have to include a few negatives to give a completely honest review. My husband wears out quickly in the parks and loves to return to the resort in the afternoon for a nap before dinner. We requested that the housekeeping of our room was complete by 2 pm. On a 7 day stay, this request was only honored one time. Also when they came to do the nightly turn down, it was often after 9 pm and we were already preparing for sleep and had to turn them away. We have stayed at the GF many times and this is the first time we ever experienced anything like this so we shrugged it off but it was disappointing. The other negative comment I need to make was about the lobby of the hotel. What has happened to the beautiful and peaceful lobby?! The large Christmas tree has become a "tourist attraction" and now includes a photo pass opportunity. The gingerbread house is another "tourist attraction" too. There were many more people in the lobby who weren't guests of the GF just to snoop around. We had to fight crowds to get through the lobby no matter what time of day it was. We were very sad that we didn't get to enjoy the lobby even one time. There was nowhere to sit down and enjoy the band and it was so noisy and chaotic! There were unsupervised children running wild. I will of course return to the GF again but next time we are looking at going in January, after the Christmas decorations have been taken down. It is a shame because we always loved the holidays when a guest at the GF but now that it has become such a tourist attraction, we're hoping that choosing a quieter time to vacation will be better. Everything else about our stay was well, GRAND!

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms are so quiet! We didn't hear a sound the entire week.

Other than a lot of Mickey shapes in the wallpaper, nothing in the Grand Floridian rooms was Disney-like. My husband and I knew we were on Disney property but it didn't really feel like it. The resort was luxurious in the style of an early 1900s Victorian hotel but certainly not worth $500 a night. We went in late November and a 10-foot-tall gingerbread house adorned the lobby, along with a 30-foot-tall Christmas tree. Live music was provided by a pianist and by a four-piece combo. Ducks and squirrels and a few little rabbits roam the property. We've stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge, both of which had much more charm than the Grand Floridian.

Room Tip: Get a room that faces the Magic Kingdom across the bay. You'll be able to watch the nightly boat parade and the fireworks.

The entrance to the Grand Floridian is, well, grand. The service is excellent but unless you can afford a grand room, that's where the grandness ends. The staff are typically Disney, accommodating, & attentive. We had booked for 4 people in one room. We had barely enough room to move. How the housekeepers managed is beyond me, but they did a great job.

Room Tip: Might ask the square footage of the room to ensure enough space.
