“Daily/Easter Mass”

Was called Mary, Queen of the Outlets, by some - right next to a major, very good outlet mall. Pray for guidance in shopping!

“I had no idea...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2012

We always look for a church when we go on vacation and we were thrilled when we found this one because it was so convenient to WDW. We went to an evening mass, so we didn't see all the gardens our outdoor things that were offered - no clue this was a shrine or anything more than a spectacularly large church that looked like it had been designed by Imagineers! It really is a nice church to go to as a tourist. You're with every type of person there - some dressed in their Sunday best, some obviously just dragged from Wet 'n Wild to make their parents happy (yeah, I was a teenager once too) and others just there to regroup for weekly mass. Look for this church - go if you can - don't worry how you're dressed (and don't worry how your kids are dressed - just be glad you got them to go to mass during vacation!). Yeah, there were a few pleas for money, but you're in Orlando - If you're willing to pay $7 for a water at the theme parks, how about dropping a $20 in the coffers to help create a nice place for all of us to be "brought home" to our church? BTW - the homily was wonderful too!

“Where is the Christian spirirt?”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2012

Turned up for Easter Monday mass and was greeted by a lady handing out what we thought was mass leaflets, and when my 10 year old son asked for one was told "you don't need one" and when I asked for one was told "only one per family". What ever happened to speaking to people with respect, and the leaflet turned out to be a letter showing how we could give money and it turned into an envelope. During the mass there was 2 collections and although the mass was nice it really put me off the facility. If the people who greet you are not very Christian in their approach then the experience will never be good and the money which seems so important will soon dry up.

The church is absolutely beautiful escpecially the stained glass windows and the station of the cross. There are several statues in the church that are very very nice. The Narthex and grounds are also nice.

“Catholic church for tourists”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2012

This shrine was built for tourists. It is not a parish church. It has plenty of room inside and out. There's lots of parking, but you do have a little bit of a walk from the parking lot. There is a really big gift shop in a separate building. There is an outdoor chapel that you pass as you walk from the parking lot and another chapel inside. Many people from surrounding parishes in the area come to serve as musicians, ushers, lay distributors, and all of these people are very welcoming to tourists.
