Our three boys spent an afternoon as incredibly realistic pirates, courtesy of the pirates league. There is more to the experience than just "being made up" -- a naming ritual and a pirate's oath, and of course no pirate experience is complete if your kids aren't weaponized (swords, to go with the eye patches and bandanas). This is one of those cases where the pictures don't exaggerate -- kids really do walk out looking good enough to be extras in the next pirates of the carribean. I wondered a little if my older kids would feel weird about being made up, but disney does a great job of making make up macho. The make up artists are tough pirates and the atmosphere in the place is thoroughly piratey. Kids are eligible to participate in a pirate's parade the afternoon of the day they visit the pirate's league, but if yours want to do that, book a later appt (check the times, but on our day, the parade was at 3...I tried for a 2:00 appt but they were booked). If you do it too early, make-up does suffer in the FL heat.
