We headed west one hour from Palm Beach, to check out Lake Okeechobee and some of the family organic farms in the area. If you like camping - it's almost luxury. We stocked up on food for two days and two nights and had an enjoyable retreat. Cabin had flat-screen TV which I did not expect, microwave, full size fridge, etc. We don't have a Florida fishing license, so we bought cane poles and bait at the Outpost store and fished from the pier. It was fun (no catch). Cooked up every meal and ate outdoors with a lake-front view. Made big bon-fires, smores and apple fritters over the fire. The Lodge is nice and has wi-fi, pool was open and busy, impressed with the laundry facilities. It is not Fort Wilderness at Disney -- but neither are the prices. We will go back for sure.

Well the cabin was nice could have been cleaned a bit more..but the location is really bad the town well I never felt safe the store is old and has no name brand things in it.. so bring your own food from home if your going to bbq or cook in the cabin..

There are no trees anywhere around the cabin and the view of the lake is all they have going for them, the cabins are very close together and so are the trailers to the cabin..
I think the town is what I did not care for the most.. I saw people buying drugs from people in the parking lot.. very very un safe area.

We camped in our RV and a tent, bring with us a daughter and 4 grandchildren. The pool was closed, but when we asked we were told that it had been shocked recently and they were just being cautious. It was really hot, so we went in anyway. Had the kids not been able to swim, this weekend would have been a disaster. Judging from the other reviews, pool closure seems to be a problem here. The grass at our campsite was too high, but they cut it at our request. The restrooms were indeed full of spiders. The location right on the lake, however, cannot be beat; finding any camping location right on Lake O, which is surrounded by a high dike, is an amazing thing. The dike, directly behind the camp, has a paved path/road running along the top. If you like to bicycle or hike, it is really great, and the views are wonderful. Also on the positive side, fire-rescue is located moments away, on the other side of the dike. This is an iffy place to take kids, but for adults -- photographers, fishermen, boaters -- it works fine.

My husband and 3 grandchildren came to camp this past weekend and we were very disappointed with the camp ground. The internet photos are not realistic and the pool was closed the whole time we were there. We registered when we came in and we went down and got all set up we wanted to get freshened up but we couldn't get into the restrooms. We then had to go up and pay for a key to us that should have been offered at the time of registration. Store prices were very high and the restrooms were full of spiders that could have been swept away but never were. My father in law runs a camp ground and it was much nicer than this one. So if you have children do not go here because they have nothing to do here.

We camped there in tents a few weeks ago and can't wait to go back. We are actually going there for Easter. What a wonderful and serene place to get away to and just be able to relax and enjoy the wonderful outdoors as you sit on the water and watch the fish jumping and alligators swimming by, very peaceful and would definetely recommend.

We stayed here in February of 2009. Was ok but we probably won't go again. We live about 45 minutes away. The cabins are all really really small. We had 2 people in one of the larger cabins and are glad we didn't have 2 couples. The 2 couples would need to be very friendly. There is a nice view of the lake from the porches. The cabins are a bit expensive in my opinion for what you get. They are clean however. We did a nice bike ride from Port Myaca. The pool was closed when we went. There was not much else to do other then drink when we visited. The staff was friendly enough. I found the furnishing to be very basic. Some of the TVs don't work very well. Some people have said that the older cabins are actually a little more spacious. It might be better not to have a loft if you don't need it. The stairs to the loft are very steep. The roof in the loft is low so you can't stand up. The loft is probably best for kids.
