Kudos to Palm Beach Flavor, and to the Leopard Lounge for extending the special offer after Hurricane Irma changed so many plans. Three of us, drawn to a first-time visit for a belated birthday luncheon, were readily won over by the room, the service, and the food.
We were happy to take advantage of the Flavor menu, offering three courses for $20. Unlike some restaurants offering the promotion, the Lounge's dishes all seemed to be full-sized, and generous at that. We started with spring salad - beautifully prepared with goat cheese, pears, sultanas, and pistachios - and a traditional and excellent shrimp cocktail. An added side of onion rings was crisp, hot, fresh, and delicious. Two of us had ham on brioche for a main course, and we noted that the ham was particularly tasty; meanwhile, chicken schnitzel was a very large piece of tender white meat, crusty, crispy, and savory, with a white sauce that offset the well-done edges. Both meals came with a generous order of fries, and the slim haricots verts accompanying the chicken were lightly treated with garlic, and superb.
None of us could resist the Belgian double chocolate cake for dessert, and it's a good thing -- I would go back just for that cake.
Tipped off by our excellent server that happy hour two-for-one pricing was in effect at lunch, we celebrated with generous pours of Cabernet Sauvignon and Prosecco, a fine complement to a very satisfactory meal.
Both menus (regular and promotional) featured salads, sandwiches, soups, and light meals, perhaps not as exotic or cosmopolitan as might be expected at the "Leopard Lounge in the Chesterfield Hotel," but very nicely accomplished, in a delightful room that provided all the atmosphere one might need. Well done!
