Cinnamon Beach at Ocean Hammock Beach Resort
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 2 August 2017

The condominiums at Cinnamon Beach offer an ideal get away for families.
We stayed in Unit #755 which was located on the fifth floor, offering superb views of the ocean and a short walk to the beach. There is ample room on the beach without feeling crowded even when a large number of beach goers are present. Average price for the condos is $475 per night which seems high, but if you get a three bedroom unit that sleeps 8 people, then you can justify the cost to some extent. Strongly recommend bringing groceries and stocking your kitchen upon arrival because amenities for groceries and miscellaneous items are a short drive away but not located on the property. Driving east from I-95 and depending on the route you use, be prepared to pay a $2.00 toll at a bridge crossing the waterways.

Room Tip: Higher levels in the buildings offer better views and have less flying insects.

Room was okay, other than the fact it was nasty and also the bed comforters were not clean. They told us it was to many comforters for them to wash before our arrival. The dishes were so gross with spots of food still on them. The. Coffee pot had old coffee residue on it. They have way to many rules! You have to drive to the pool. Or you can walk but that's a long walk with children! Ocean was a pretty good ways as well. The pool closes at 9! And the kiddie zone was closed and under construction. Would have been nice to know before arrival! Not a very family friendly place with small children. Oh and you have to pay a $2 toll every time you go over the toll bridge to get threw. Also no where to eat and shop while you're here. We drove to Saint Augustine every time we went to eat or to shop.

We had a very comfortable stay! The view was gorgeous! Loved the close access to the beach! Awesome beds and great amenities and lovely decor. Fun game room for kids and very good though a tad pricey cafe.Suggestions I have are update the washer and dryer, the toilets all had issues with "needing to jiggle the handles" to stop the running noise, and the master bath shower head could stand to be replaced. Guest bedroom closet door was off its track. Also I felt like I didn't really have my bearings about the area: what's near, how and where to play golf or what the lovely track/trail was all around. I would love to have rented bikes if I knew where to ride them. There wasn't a central office to ask questions or if so I'd don't know where.

We have rented in cinnamon beach for 10 years. This year we switched from renting a condo to renting a beach house. We started having a few issues about a week before we left. We were contacted by the office numerous times stating they needed a guest list with drivers license numbers, car license numbers and names/ages. The parking and entry information would not be sent until we completed this info. Sounds easy enough....however, after sending at least three seperate times they said they still did not receive. However, they had released entry instructions so we assumed since they acknowledged the information we sent was Completed. That was until we arrived at the gate after a 13 hour drive. We were told they didnt have a guest list and couldn't enter. After being instructed to drive to the office across town, we finally got it straightened out. Then a day later, they come to the house and demanded a signature from our 1 year old child! They insisted....we kept getting directed back to the customer service group that is overseas and you can not understand. The 2 houses we rented are lovely but are showing major signs of deterioration ( Bermuda bay and sea star palace). A bit dirty, Mildred smell in sea star and worn carpets. Also everything including the pool area was under construction so the workers are working early in the morning on that and continue all day. This all sounds minor but has added up to a less than perfect vacation. I am sorely disappointed with vacation rental pros. The went from impeccable service years ago to terrible service sent overseas. Sad to see this transformation over the years.

Hammock Resorts is beautifully maintained. If renting a condo, the walk to the beach is short. Same for the two pools, which are right across the street from each other. The one on the beach side is more for adults. The larger one at the clubhouse was my grandkids favorite. They have tables and chairs under cabanas as well as lounge chairs in the sunny areas. The restaurant at the clubhouse is being run by The Turtle Shack this summer. Good food and good drinks! Be aware that the children's splash zone is under construction, or at least it was in late May. We rented through a rental company, so I won't comment on that here, except to say that you must have the proper documents to get through the gate. Be sure to have the display printed out to place on your dashboard.

Room Tip: Be aware of your location in relation to the ocean.
