Overall, I'd have to say that Tidewater wasn't for us (my husband & I). We complained about one thing or another the entire trip. It is a bit tricky to review a property because condos are independently owned & is not run like a resort/hotel. I will tell yall what I think & you can choose to take it with a grain of salt or seriously. Let's start with the positives: it's SUPER quiet & in such a beautiful area of PCB. Very calm & relaxing. We went for our honeymoon so it was perfect. Also the time of year we went was a perfect time to visit. We went the week before school let out so that part of the beach & the resort itself was pretty dead. The beach itself, water & sand that was directly in front of Tidewater was perfect. The negatives: you had to wear a wrist band that way you can go all over the property & they are aggravating. Also, they are EXTREMELY strict. They impose a curfew. It's called 'quiet time' but we call it curfew. You could not smoke on the balcony or even in the parking garage. That's ridiculous! I understand how touchy people are about smoking, but come on! Also, any kind of electric car/moped, etc is not allowed on the property. Even in the parking garage. I was pulled up front where the drop off is & my husband ran up quickly to get something & the security guard told me that those vehicles were not allowed on the property. That's stupid! What if we had a rental for the entire day, where were we to park it? Also, the bed broke the 1st day we were there & Southern Resorts came way later into the NEXT day to replace it & the internet was extremely hard to get online. We felt incredibly unsafe at nights because our condo was very secluded off on it's own & only had a keypad, not a regular lock. It would be a good property if you have kiddos.
We stayed here March 9th - 14th during Spring Break. I requested floors 6 - 10 because
my daughter isn't a huge fan of elevators. We loved our rooms and the balcony view of
the ocean was just plain awesome. The staff was really helfpful and the resort has just about
anything you need. The only complaints would be that you do have to park across the street
in a parking garage. If you don't get on the second floor of the garage you will have to travel
on an elevator to second floor and then walk a few hundred yards to the hotel and then travel again on your elevator to your floor. With 30 floors of rooms the elevators can be challenging especially when loading and unloading your luggage to and from your vehicle. The other major complaint would be the horrible roaring noise that comes from the elevator shafts. If you're a couple rooms from the elevators you'll hear this annoying noise sounding
like someone rolling on roller skates across the ceiling of your bedroom. This goes on allnight until the guest are settled and the elevators are not be used that often. It took a good three nights to get used to that noise. Overall the walls are a little thin and was probably the loudest condo i've ever stayed at. Keep in mind it was College Spring Break
and the noise was excessive. So if your a light sleeper you might think twice about staying
on a lower floor near elevators. I did talk to a couple on the top floor and they didn't hear
the noise, but several other guest had made comments about the same noise. Must be a design flaw. We did have a 80 dollar cleaning fee for the 4 night, but i was prepared for this.
This is not our first trip to Panama City Beach, but our first time booking through Sterling Resorts. We had to check in at Sterling Breeze, which is located next door to Tidewater Resorts. A very apathetic young man assisted with our check-in. We had occasion to speak with the same young man about other matters and his energy level was non-existent....not a good representative for Sterling Breeze or Stirling Resorts.
Our condo at Tidewater Resorts located on the 17th floor was not clean. The carpets, chairs and walls were stained. Food and crumbs in the cutlery tray and under small counter appliances. Water drips, fingerprints, grime, & "old" dust on kitchen and bathroom cupboard doors. The kitchen HAD to be cleaned before preparing any foods. (this was mentioned to the young man at Stirling Breeze and he said that he would pass this on to Brittany - the Manager - but no acknowledgement of the concerns) The water leak and plaster falling from the kitchen ceiling...fortunately Resort Quest who manage the Tidewater Building looked after this...we would still be waiting for Stirling Resorts. Other reviews mention the delay with the elevators but we found that only on Fridays when there was "Open House" and high humidity days was there much of a wait time. The building was built in 2007 but it appears to be much older and needs more day-to-day cleaning and maintenance to keep it up. One word of warning to all all you who bought new swimsuits for your holidays...don't wear them in the indoor pool or hot-tubs! The colour fading is noticeable after being in the water just one time. There is no warning posted. The common area computers were down for 3 weeks of the 4 that we were there but we were constantly being reassured that the would be "up and running" that day!
The views of the beach and the Gulf of Mexico are wonderful. We met so many nice people both at the resort and our walks on the beach and around Pier Park. Winn Dixie and CVS Drug Store are also within walking distance. The security fence and gate for the parking garage was reassuring. The Mardis Gras celebrations at Pier Park and the fireworks from the Pier were a blast. We would definitely go back to Panama City Beach but probably not to Tidewater Resorts and definitely we would not book through Stirling Resorts.
My boyfriend and I stayed on the 28th fl/rm 2807 (i think). The rug had stains on it (remind of maybe urine from a pet); the rug was not professionally cleaned upon renting out. The kitchen was very pleasant and upgraded with nice granite countertops. My only major complaints was the TV in the bedroom was about the size of a 15 inch computer monitor. I actually thought that is what it was. That is pretty SAD and CHEAP of the owner. The living room I think maybe a 32 in; but the volume moved all the way up was still not loud. I loved the oceanview of course. Other than what I mentioned it was a very nice 4 days. The wheather could have been much more pleasant; but what you expect in February:)
The resort is nice and clean and you are literally directly on the beach!!! Our room was gorgeous......the only problem was there was no vending machines at all (pop or candy). So for them late night chocolate cravings I was left with nothing!!! LOL
