Awful, rundown, poorly maintained. Pic online showed carpeted room but it was gritty ceramic tile throughout. Mattresses were very old and there were bloodstains on one of the pillowcases. Desk clerk reaction: “gross.” Yeah, we already knew that.
Entrance door was beat up and chipped, needed a paint job. Never again

We stayed in PCB July 5th. The location of this hotel is great and the staff are wonderful. However, the hotel could stand some maintenance. Although the housekeeping attendant did her best to vacuum the carpet, it was very "ground-in" and needed to be steam cleaned. There was also an issue in the tub... there was a leak in the ceiling and it made drywall compound fall into the tub. The maintenance man tried to stop the leak and repair the ceiling for us but it still leaked.
This is an older property, and as a practicing landlord with older properties, I know there is always something going to break... it is to be expected. It was probably one of the nicer hotels in its day, and with a little maintenance it could be great. I feel that it is priced accordingly, as other hotels in the area cost far more. I wouldn't mind staying here again. We went swimming on the beach every morning, and the view from our room was great. We even had our own balcony. The hotel even provides a pavillion with picnic tables for picnicking. This is great if you are having a beach party and want to do your own grilling. There are also plenty of lounge chairs both on the beach and on the common patio areas. There is a bar and grill by the pool, but we didn't have time to stop by. There was a guy putting out umbrellas and cushions for the lounge chairs on the beach, and he told us we would have to pay $30 to use it for the day. I suppose that is the going rate.
All-in-all, I would say it was a fine stay, economically priced and a great location, central to all that PCB has to offer.

First off, “Chateau By The Sea”, formerly “The Chateau Motel”, was newly acquired by “By The Sea Resorts”. It’s a great value for the money. Rooms were mildly dated but clean. Balcony overlooked a very nice pool area with Bar and an amazing beach view with access!! Many shops and restaurants in walking distance. We had one issue, we returned to our room just before bedtime and the tv was had a fuzzy picture on every channel. We personally tightened all cable connections ourselves, but no dice. This wasn’t a big deal because we only booked the room for the night, but made sure the desk knew about it when we checked out the next morning. Even with the tv issue, we still gave the stay a 5 Star Rating because of everything else.
