This was our first visit to this part of Florida. We visited Boca Grande, Sanibel/Captiva and we found that all unimpressive. However, we stayed in Pine Island and this restaurant made it all worthwhile! Yeah crazy but true. Coming from a large city and traveling all over the world, the Tarpon Lodge left us quite impressed. It's a gem with the proper sense of old world class. The servers and bartenders particularly Dino know how to treat people. And the food....oh the food, excellent!! Worth the price, it's what it should cost. This level of service and quality presented in an elegant atmosphere would fetch even more in a large city. Given the choices in this neck of the woods, there is nothing to hold back on in pricing. We felt the wine being served were bargain prices for the quality and yeah served cold because the alternative would be too warm if you wander to sunset, it all makes sense. This amazing hideaway reminded us of the isle of Skye in Scotland, you travel a long way and you find a magnificent treasure. BTW, people bragging about the restaurants on Boca Grande are clueless, those were all ok and a rip off for the quality but makes sense since they're packed in tourists so they can get away with it. Not the case here at all. Go see for yourself, you won't be disappointed. I will add that we had dinner and we arrived by car so not boaters, I can imagine boating here would be spectacular since the dock is gorgeous.
