This was our first visit to this part of Florida. We visited Boca Grande, Sanibel/Captiva and we found that all unimpressive. However, we stayed in Pine Island and this restaurant made it all worthwhile! Yeah crazy but true. Coming from a large city and traveling all over the world, the Tarpon Lodge left us quite impressed. It's a gem with the proper sense of old world class. The servers and bartenders particularly Dino know how to treat people. And the food....oh the food, excellent!! Worth the price, it's what it should cost. This level of service and quality presented in an elegant atmosphere would fetch even more in a large city. Given the choices in this neck of the woods, there is nothing to hold back on in pricing. We felt the wine being served were bargain prices for the quality and yeah served cold because the alternative would be too warm if you wander to sunset, it all makes sense. This amazing hideaway reminded us of the isle of Skye in Scotland, you travel a long way and you find a magnificent treasure. BTW, people bragging about the restaurants on Boca Grande are clueless, those were all ok and a rip off for the quality but makes sense since they're packed in tourists so they can get away with it. Not the case here at all. Go see for yourself, you won't be disappointed. I will add that we had dinner and we arrived by car so not boaters, I can imagine boating here would be spectacular since the dock is gorgeous.

Loved the atmosphere from the moment we docked the boat. The restaurant sits on an island. It has neat southern charm. It was quaint, but very very busy, so we got drinks in the bar. The service was good. For lunch, we all had some sort of fish. I had fish tacos which were very good. The owner came over and talked with us, which was a nice gesture. He agreed to take a picture then walked us out to the boat.

We ate early to catch the sunset. The food was first class, so was the service by Donna. The view from the porch was outstanding. It is well worth the drive. We will be back.

The Tarpon Lodge is, simply put, a Southwest Florida treasure! If you like authentic “Old Florida” architecture and charm, a waterfront venue with a wonderful view, all in a relaxed setting with top-notch professional wait staff to pamper, this is a place you will relish!

So many tempting dishes on the menu made it difficult to choose. On this date we enjoyed a salad of locally-grown organic greens topped with blackened shrimp, honeydew, cantaloupe, etc., along with a Shrimp Po-Boy to die for, accompanied by coleslaw.

And a word about the coleslaw... seemingly a simple side dish, right? Not for some restaurants. But the slaw at the Tarpon Lodge was best-ever perfect!

We will be back far more often than we have in the past. It is very much worth the drive!

The foods was delicious with service perfect. The server we had was a hoot. We ate there two nights. One for our anniversary the night before Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving. Both meals were delicious! The server on the second night even knew what we were drinking.
