My wife and I attempted to check in at 9:30 a.m. on a Friday, but our room was not ready. No worries, the desk clerk gave us a parking pass to leave our car in the hotel lot and requested my cell number so I could receive a text when the room was available. We left to see the sights, and I received a text a little after noon. Nice, quiet room with plenty of space. The desk clerk was more that accommodating, friendly, and provided my wife with a package of Oreos when he found out she was allergic to nuts. The complimentary WiFi supported “Carpool Karaoke,” and I was able to connect my laptop via an Ethernet cable. The City Gate at St George Street is a half mile walk from the hotel. I was surprised that there was no fresh coffee in the lobby at 6:00 a.m. on Sunday morning; I was told I would have to wait until 7:00 a.m. when the restaurant opened. I’d also recommend making the pool area completely smoke-free. I observed a women smoking, sitting on the side of the pool with her cigarette extended over the water.
NOTE: The nightlight in the bathroom reflected off a mirror and onto the right side of the bed. This disturbed my wife the first night, but was remedied the second night by pulling the bathroom door nearly closed.More
