“Family Friendly, Clean, Fun”
Reviewed 22 February 2012

We stayed there and our children loved the property. It has a wonderful inflatable waterslide on the beach which is so fun. They have a nice kids program if they want to do activities such as making shark tooth necklaces, etc. They have a pirate show on Sat. night which is a nice touch.

The staff is very friendly and the so are the restaurants etc.
It is great for families.

My wife and I stayed for 5 nights from Feb 9th to 14th. We stayed in the queen bed suites room. Excellant room, get the balconey room. Very clean with a great kitchenette. The staff are very friendly and "Carmen" on the front desk was excellant. Quick and to the point , very pleasant.

The property is good with great beach access and heated pools. Walking distance to great restaurants including "Thai Basil and Agava Mexican". Both are a must.

I noticed this property has several repeat guests. I would come back in a heartbeat.

Was amazed at the friendliness of the staff. They seemed to truly enjoy the work they were doing. The rooms were clean, neat, and had plenty of space. Everything that we needed was right there at the resort (restaurants, shopping, coffee shop, pools, hot tub, and best of all the beach). Would definitely recommend this for anyone wanting to relax and unwind. Our vacation was certainly just that.

If you are looking for a great place at a reasonable rate this is it. If you are looking for a great place right on the beach with great staff and great amenities this is it.

The Tradewinds Sandpiper is good for couples, kids, seniors, who ever, who wants to have what I just mentioned. It sits right along the coast with many other hotels. Its sister property - the Tradewinds Island Grand - just down the street or a short stroll along the beach. And what the Sandpiper lacks in activities and amenities the Island Grand has support it.

The rooms are not modern or updated recently. But it doesn't really matter. Even as the rooms kind of belong back in the 90s the atmosphere, the staff and the beach makes it all worth it. I loved the poolside snackbar - it's possible to enjoy a meal right there by the pool. And if I got too much noise from the kids I could walk to the other side of the hotel and enjoy the adult pool.
Do yourself a favor and select a beachfront room. I thought it would be too much with all that water after a day at the beach, but nothing beats a drink by the large windows facing the Gulf.

I can't give this hotel a perfect score as the rooms are too outdated

Stayed three nights there in February, 2012. The staff was awesome, the rooms were great, enjoyed breakfast in the mornings by the pool with a great view of the ocean. Free use of computers downstairs in the lobby was a nice service because I have never found the wireless connections in hotel rooms to be that great. Chairs, cushions and towel service was available on the beach just steps from the hotel. The Coconuts Comedy Club in the Convention Center was a fun evening also. No fancy restaurants or nite clubs on the premises but who wants to eat in your own hotel when there's so many great places to go to in the area. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great weekend getaway. Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: The romance room was nice with the jacuzzi; it had a great view of the ocean but overall was a bit s...

Truly enjoyed every minute of our trip. So glad we decided on the sandpiper rather than the larger island grand. We are a younger couple, late 20's. Had a ground level room, right by the adult only pool. We enjoyed that adult only pool for most of our visit. So relaxing and amazing to not have to deal with children splashing around or yelling. There is a bar by the main pool which we visited. Beach was awesome, loved the beach loungers, especially with the option of putting up the canopy for shade. I would definitely recommend this resort as it is a great place and a great value. We will definitely return!

Staff were friendly and courteous. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Rates were very reasonable. Loved the location, the beach was fabulous. Great trip, plans to return next year! Weather was perfect as well!

Room Tip: I would suggest ocean view on the higher floors, very quiet and a wonderful view.
