Most of the time I think the reviews are inflated to the good or the bad but this one is the absolute truth and very factual. Number one: Not enough parking. Number two: No where to park while trying to check in. Number three: Not enough front desk help at peak hours. Number Four: The rooms are very small and aged. They made an attempt at remodeling but fell very short. Number Five: The terrace was and this is not an exaggeration only 24'' wide. Only two small plastic chairs that you had to face each other or you could not sit outside. And Number Six: We were on the 6th floor and the hallway smelled like and I'll be polite...poop! All weekend every time you stepped out of your room it made you want to vomit. Thank God the smell was not coming into the room through the vents or we would of had to check out. We complained and no one even apologized, they just kept spraying citrus smelling deodorizer that made it smell like orange poop. The staff was overall not very concerned and some were even rude!
The only good thing about the room was the view. The view was very nice of the beach and the gulf. Their website does stretch things a lot like the courtyard. Not so much. The pools are small and very crowded. You do get to use the facilities at the TradeWinds Grande which was nice. Bottom line: We will not stay there again.

We love the atmosphere here so much! The beach is always clean and the cabana cots are so comfortable! The food was delightful and at a high star quality. I loved the starbucks located in the lobby, convenient! The fireworks down on the beach were breathtaking and a surprise as we were not aware this was a scheduled event. However the most outstanding part of our stay was the hammocks under the palm trees and the music lightly playing. My husband has a hard time winding down from his work responsibilities and this seems to do the trick! We love Tradewind Resorts and look forward to our trip again next year! Thanks for all you do, your staff is incredable!

My husband and I have never traveled to St. Pete's beach but wanted to try something new for the memorial day weekend with the kids. Overall I would say it was a nice stay and maybe could have been better if it was not a holiday weekend . First of all let me say the staff was very nice and very helpful. We felt we could call and ask for anything and they would help if they could. A few things to know about the property. 1. The pictures of the rooms on line are much smaller in person. We stayed in a one bedroom suite with a mini kitchen. It was so small you had to close the door to the bedroom to open the fridge. We stayed in this room with 2 adults and 2 kids. We assumed the kids could have the room with 2 bed (fullsize not queen) and we could sleep on the pullout couch. 2. The pull out couch was disgusting!!! Big HUGE stains and obviously very very old. When we asked if they had another mattress or air mattress, they did not. We layered it with lots of blankets but like most pullouts very uncomfortable. 3. The noise at the pool early in the morning and late at night. We were given a 2nd floor suite overlooking the pool and ocean view. We didn't realize that people would be at the pool at 7am and not leave until 11pm. Not usually a big deal but when they do not enforce the pool ours, it makes it hard to deal. and this is a very family friendly place and you would think people would watch their language around their own kids but other peoples' not even. again maybe it was the holiday and a little too much drinking involved.

The most important part was the kids seemed to have a good time playing in the water and at the pool. they had fireworks on Sunday night and a big BBQ (you had to pay for it). They had so many activities for the kids but all at cost. We didn't even need to leave the property. I would say the food at the resort was ok, just ok and the service not great. I guess because i was at the coast, i expected to get good seafood at the cafe on the property, yeah not so much.

I don't think i would go back to this place maybe another place on St. Pete's Beach.

Room Tip: Pick a high floor away from the pool.

We stayed here on our trip to St. Pete Beach for our anniversary. Everything about the hotel was fine with the exception of Housekeeping. First the good news. Reservations were spot on, pool, beach, pool bar, patio cafes, shops were very good. People were friendly and professional. Room was ready on time. Our first full day there we came back to a non cleaned room after being on the beach and pool till 3:30PM. We needed to relax, show and go out, so we told the maid in the hall that they missed our room. Could we get it done? Sure was the answer. We waited and waited, looked around for the maids, who were all gone, and we gave up. Went to dinner and had a few drinks came back --- nothing done. Same thing the 2nd day, got back, not cleaned. Tracked down a maid and asked her (nicely) to do it ASAP as we had places to go. We left room, had a couple of drinks at pool bar and returned. Room was done... or at least the bed was made. Some dirty towels were left there, sink nor shower were wiped down. Generally it appeared to be cleaned(?) by someone in a hurry to be done. For the price of the room we deserved much better. Speaking of price, there is a $25 a day ammenity charge that gets you items like clean towels on the beach and pool. Beach cabanas and cushions. They were nice. But we were there from Friday at 4pm till Monday at 11PM. We were charged, like everyone else, for 3, $25 ammenity fees. In reality you can barely if at all use them on the check in date or the checkout date. Felt like a subtle rip-off to me. Would we go back.. maybe.

Room Tip: Watch out for room 3823 as it's tucked away on it's own and I think housekeeping forgets to...

Love coming here year after year...The atmosphere is great, hotel staff is friendly and is not as crowded as the Island Grand, they are sister hotels and if you have kids and still want some peacefulness, it is not a far walk to bring the to one of the many activities there. The prices are average for activities for them and usually there is a promo coupon on Trip Advisor to help with the activities as long as you use a credit card at check in...There is a parking fee also but at least you know your vehicle is safe and sound. Security is great and if you do have a problem they are right there to solve it. Yes there is a beach bar next door that has bands at night that run until midnight but, your on vacation enjoy it from your porch or balcony. There is an adult pool and whirlpool here and a section of rooms if you are a couple and choose to just be around other adults. Now the rooms are regular rooms or you can get a kitchenette, I do find with kids that the kitchenette is better and just make food in the room saves money and the grocery store isent that far away...Good luck and have fun..

Room Tip: rooms on the garden side have the band that you can here next door so if you would like it more quie...

My wife and I stayed at the Sandpiper for an Anniversary weekend away. The staff was great and the location is perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed the resort, especially the somewhat secluded adults only pool and hot tub. If you are traveling without kids that's a nice perk. And I know that some do not like the $25.00 resort fee, but we felt the use of the cabana's on the beach made that well worth the additional cost. The resort could use a few upgrades in amenities, but all in all we had a wonderful time and would not hesitate to go back again.
