The hotel was built in 1920 and has been renovated since, but the room sizes are the same. Meaning the rooms are small and the bathrooms are the smallest I've ever seen. there is literally a foot in between the toilet and the sink. If you are tall, you can wash your hands while still sitting on the toilet! Regardless to say only one person can occupy the bathroom at the same time. The room service is odd as they go in waves, they first pick up the towels and then (many hours later) they do the actually cleaning and a poor job at that. The last 4 days of our 9-day stay, they did not pick up our trash nor anybody else's. We were 8 people in 3 rooms. One maid even left a garbage bag and a note asking the people staying in the room to pick up the trash themselves! In my case, we had run out of both toilet paper and kleenex and the cleaning lady had not noticed for 2 days so we had to call twice to get someone to service us. All in all, I would recommend going somewhere else. But if you cannot find anywhere else, make sure to not stay there for long.

Our first visit to a Hotel Indigo and will definitely not be the last. Charming renovation of old hotel! Loved the colorful, funky decor. Great bed and pillows. Great location within walking distance to lots of restaurants, downtown shopping, museums and more.

We stayed at Hotel Indigo March 1-3, 2012 and were in a king standard room on the first floor. We loved many things about this site: walkable distance to St Pete museums, restaurants, and venues. We loved the updated decor, friendliness of the staff, comfie mattress, and spacious front porch. Yes, this is a renovated, historic property and with this comes some unique things that you will either find charming or irritating. For us, we'd rather stay in a location such as this instead of a typical chain hotel. However, there are two issues which might be problematic for certain guests. One, the bathroom in our room was very, very small and if you are a large person, this will be somewhat prohibitive for movement--just don't choose this type of room. Second, sound proofing is not modern and you will hear some hallway and above floor noise. It didn't bother us but for a light sleeper this might be an issue. We loved our stay here and will definitely stay here again if we are in St. Pete. Location can't be beat and they loved our guide dog puppy-in-training.

Room Tip: Ask about bathroom size for your chosen room. Light sleepers should choose the top floor.

After staying in "cheap" hotels during my trip to Florida, I decided to stay at the Hotel Indigo for a night at a cost of $100. Boy, was I disappointed.

First, the hotel smells like mold and I sneezed all night. Second, the staff is rude and in-accommodating, especially the night manager Linda. It appears that this hotel is run either by family, amateurs, or both. The hotel decor is old, worn out, and tacky. It looks like they bought their decorations at Target.

The bath is the size of an RV bathroom and the shower was covered in soap scum. Nasty!

If you are looking for a nice stay on St. Pete, this ain't the place.
