I absolutely love fine Italian food. Chianti exceeded my expectations. It was amazing. Along with great service, the food was phenomenal. We shared two extraordinary pasta dishes, one lamb ragu and the other was a pappardelle pasta with shrimp and mushrooms. Incredible. It's a must dine!

Believe it or not, there are several outstanding Italian restaurants in the Sarasota area. And Chianti might be best of all. Owners Josie and Edward Pizziti, who operated successful eateries in San Francisco before moving to Florida's West Coast, opened Chianti in 2013 and have been receiving rave notices ever since. Located in a strip mall at 3900 Clark Road, it has seating for 180 and a menu to satisfy everyone who knows linguine from fettuccine. How did my wife and I discover Chianti? Because it is located next to Millie's, one of our favorite breakfast hangouts. I checked out the menu and was impressed enough to give it a try. We really enjoyed ourselves. That was two years go. Chianti is on our must-eat-there list during every vacation. For starters, we chose bruschetta, shrimp cocktail and escargot. Chianti's pasta is outstanding, especially traditional spaghetti and meatballs, linguine with shrimp and the hand-made Pappardelle with shrimp and scallops in alfredo sauce. The veal picatta and veal marsala and grilled lamb chops also are highly recommended. But we are in a more fish/less meat kind of persuasion so we opted for salmon filet piccata and fresh pan-seared sea scallops with sauteed fresh garlic spinach. For dessert, we passed up all the conventional items--tiramisu, creme brulee, cannoli, chocolate mousse, panna cotta--for slices of House Cake (home-made sponge cake layered with Amaretto cream, chocolate/cream and Grand Marnier cream, dome-shaped and topped with whipped cream) and Italian cream cake (layers of sponge cake with rum-laced cream and finished with pecans and coconut). Anybody counting calories? Chianti makes for a wonderful evening and a fine dining experience.

There were many of us there for happy hour last night and we ALL enjoyed it. The staff is very friendly and answers our questions. The parking is good. The food that we had was delicious and we all have been there frequently and will return again soon. They always have specials that they offer to their customers. I hope that you will visit them.

Had dinner here with friends for Savor Sarasota. Extensive selection, even for the value priced Savor Sarasota menu. Gave a free glass of (more than adequate) wine with the Savor Sarasota menu. The veal piccata. was delicious, cooked just right and with 3 medallions, very generous portion. The mini cannolis were the best we've had in town (it's all in the CREAM). All four of us were very happy with our meals and felt we got a TERRIFIC VALUE.

I guess every restaurant could have a bad night. Tonight was Chiante's ...we had reservations for,6.30.they were out of their specials..drinks took forever...special that we got had to be returned...worst night ever at Chiante. Place was empty too...no excuses!!!.....this is my second review..so different from my first review...
