Only negative would be the tight parking. Resort is in walking distance to plenty of shopping and restaurants. Well worth the money. Would stay here again. Great views of the beach from our room.

My mother and I went to "St Pete Beach" for her 60th birthday weekend and found this little gem of a place. It is nicely tucked away from the traffic and hub-bub of St Pete and is conveniently located in Treasure Island. All the rooms have a private balcony that overlooks the beach and the gulf. The balcony design is truly private and unless you specifically lean out for a look, you won't notice your neighbors. The 2 bedroom 2 bath condo we rented had a full kitchen and really felt like a private condo that we wouldn't mind living in. The extra large balcony was shared by the Master bedroom and the main living area. The unit was clean, bright and nicely updated with granite counters and nice touches. The furnishings were not the typical cheap beachside furniture you would expect, but was cozy, sturdy and comfortable. The pool and jacuzzi were very nice and there was lots of outdoor space for either lounging or grilling out on the poolside BBq's. 2 recommendations for local places to eat- Caddy's on the Beach, which the hotel provided us a 50% off coupon for (awesome!) and La Cote Basque located in Gulport was a special treat. Excellent food, a cozy and romantic environment, family run and everything was amazingly fresh! The hotel was a quick ride to all points of interest including the new Dali museum.

We look forward to our next visit!

Room Tip: We had read on another site someone mentioned asking for a higher up room. When we got to the hotel they initially offered 2nd floor. We asked for a higher floor and after some shuffling they accomodated us with a 5th floor room. Obviously with any place, the higher the better for view purposes. We stayed in #503 which was lovely.

We just loved the Surf Beach Resort and will definitely come back for a longer stay. The units were beautiful, extremely clean, and equipped with everything one could possibly need. The view from the balcony was incredible and was large enough for 6 of us to enjoy the sunset and a cocktail before heading out to dinner. There is no restaurant on the premises, but with a full kitchen and many cafes and restaurants within a short walk, that was not an issue. If we had wanted room service, we would have stayed at a hotel. There is a vast gorgeous expanse of clean white sand between the resort and the gulf waters. I was a bit surprised to read one viewer's complaint about the distance to the water as that is only due to how huge the beach is and not to any fault of the resort. Yes, the office is only manned until 5pm but the staff is very helpful and friendly. We had to unexpectedly change our arrival dates due to weather and they were extrememly helpful and flexible in letting us change our reservation at the last minute. Overall, I don't see why anyone would go anywhere else.

We have stayed at this condo/hotel several times and always enjoyed it. We have learned that the best rooms for a view are the third floor or higher. The rooms are always clean and well maintained. The sunsets are great on your private balcony while sipping a cool cocktail. There are a number of restaurants and bars nearby. There is also a Publix within walking distance for groceries and refreshments. There are also a free taxi which operates from St Pete's Beach to Johns Pass; they work for tips! We have always had a great time at this location because the rooms are clean and modern.

Room Tip: Third floor or higher and the end suites offer more natural light

This was our first time staying at Surf Beach. While overall our stay was good, there was a couple of issues that need mentioning:
The good: Great Gulf views and fabulous sunsets, private balcony, beautiful beach, friendly staff, and located walking distance to restaurants, grocery stores, liquor stores, and fast food joints.
The not so good: This hotel is loud! You can hear every chair being moved above you, shower noise, and toilets being flushed. There was construction going on on the 5th. floor and I swear it sounded like it was right above us on the 3rd. In the morning the pool heaters kick on and drone on loudly for several hours. The units face the pool and hot tub. There is horrible acoustics, and you can hear every conversation in the hot tub or pool, and kids screaming in the pool.
This building sits pretty far from the water. My wife counted 375 steps to the water from the gate. While some may like this distance, it was a hassle if you had to go to the bathroom.
Several reviewers have mentioned that you should stay on the 4th. floor or above. Here's why: At night the very bright sodium lights kick on in the pool area. If your on the 2nd or 3rd floor you are going to be staring at them if your sitting out on the balcony. They shut off at 10 PM, but someone set the timers till 11:00 PM. Yea your know who you are! These lights completely block the view of the star lit sky. Also if your on the 2nd. floor depending on what room, your going to have palm tree obstructed views of the gulf.
The condo itself was clean, and had an adequate supply of kitchen items, towel's, and soaps. There is no daily maid service, so you have to clean up after yourselves.
