Cafe Longet has been open about 6 months and four of us finally got to pay the place a visit on Saturday evening for dinner. All of us left with a sense of wonder of how delicious each of our meals was.
We all started with the Salad du Soleil which tasted as good as was evident by the effort that went into the presentation. This is a salad made by hand with layers of tomato, prosciutto, figs, mixed salad greens, burrata cheese, seeds, pesto and balsamic dressing. It is a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds.
I had Le Poulet Parfume or the marinated chicken with cranberries, ginger, fresh herbs, soy sauce, and orange juice. I truly did not want to finish it so that I could continue to enjoy the wonderful taste in my mouth. Others in our party had the Risotto, the grouper and halibut and everyone absolutely raved about their meal. The chef is from the Provance region of France and loves his work as evident in his results.
We had a bottle of wine selected from a reasonably extensive wine list with prices that are very accommodating to the guest.
At dessert, they offer a Cafe Gourmand which is coffee accompanied by a small sample of their four main desserts. It was the perfect end to the perfect meal.
This is a welcome addition to the Venice/Sarasota dining scene and one that I encourage you to try and then return to many times over.
