“Good quality hotel - nothing out of the ordinary”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2012

We stayed at the Hyatt Bonaventure in mid-February for a mini-vacation. This hotel seems geared toward the conference crowd - despite being billed as a "resort/spa." The whole set up was a bit too suburban for us - with pods of guest rooms around the campus / surrounded by golf courses. The overall room we got was quite nice - we were upgraded to a suite & it was recently redone & had a good bed and was very clean. The spa (Red Door at the time, now a Hyatt Spa) was nice. The workout room was fair - but several of the machines were out of order. I preferred jogging in the area, which was pleasant. Food (breakfast) at the hotel was good and the cocktail lounge (both) featured friendly staff. Overall, if the price is right, this is a nice 3 star/borderline 4 star property.

Stayed 3 nights at this hotel. Grounds are beautiful and kept immaculate, with lots to look at; turtles, fish, ducks, lizards etc. The downside: walkway to our room was strewn with huge spiderwebs that we asked the front desk twice to remove (they did nothing).

Rooms: we stayed in bldg 6. Had a door between our room and the next so could hear every word of conversation from the next room. Bed was the smallest double I've ever seen. Had a large fridge, hob and microwave so you could cook if you wanted to; no pans/crockery etc though. Decor looked a bit dated - massive old TVs in chintzy cupboards that you can't watch unless sitting directly in front of them. Nice view and balcony over the golf course.WiFi was useless, took forever to connect and they refunded the charge as it was so bad. Breakfast was included in the cost and had a fantastic range of food on offer, hot, cold, pastries, juices, bagels etc.

3 pools, the main one was nice with plenty of loungers and attentive bar service, the smaller ones were very busy. Ate in the steakhouse on the first night, although the meal was very slow to arrive the staff were friendly & attentive and the food was great. Scott at the bar makes an awesome cocktail. There is a nice looking spa we didn't use. Gym is large and has a good range of equipment but it was like a play-school with small children running around screaming all over the place whilst their parents worked out. After working out we saw a sign hidden away on a top shelf that said guests had to pay $25 each per day. Thought this was ridiculous - why hide the charge where it isn't viewable BEFORE using the gym? However in the end we weren't charged.

Drinks at the pool bar were 90% ice, there are shops a couple of miles down the road, stock up there. Sawgrass Mills mall is close, with 2.3m sqft of shops; considering Sawgrass is famous for golf I think this is a match made in heaven; golfers can golf and shoppers can shop!

My husband and I stayed at the Bonaventure for three nights. My husband had a business conference at the hotel. Our stay was very nice. The staff was very helpful and friendly (always greeting us with a smile). Our room was large, quiet and clean. Although we didn't use the pool I liked seeing it as it was very spacious and inviting with a tiki bar to serve the patrons. The hotel is located along a waterway overlooking a golf course, and there is a trail along the water. There were a lot of native trees and flowers on the ground, giving a resort like feel. There were only two negatives to our stay. Our room was not ready at the 3:00 PM check in time and we had to wait for about an hour for it to be ready. The other con was that the pond next to the entrance to the spa smelled awful. It smelled like sulfur or rotten eggs the whole time we were there. I think they might need to clean it, though it looked clean and was beautiful to look at. I would liked to have spent more time around the pond but it was just too smelly. However those two negatives did not spoil our time and overall we left there feeling very good about our stay.

3 stars may be a bit generous but given that my friend's wedding was held here and that event in itself was great, I'm going with 3 stars. I also enjoyed a brief trip to the tiki bar by the pool, the bar zen is cool for a post-event drink and overall our room was clean (always a good thing). The negatives: a huge gap in the door to the outside (not interior entry) that was large enough you could see through to the outer walkway. Very easy to hear others through the walls. There were a few moderate/heavy rain showers and the walkways flooded/puddled up to the room doors and the elevator (in some spots over an inch of collected water). Shoes, luggage, feet completely get wet trying to navigate out of the building. Trash was not picked up in 48 hours by the elevator. And forget about trying to get anywhere. RENT A CAR. Weston is approximately approx 20-25 minutes from the Fort Lauderdale airport. Getting a taxi is a huge problem. On one evening, we called the front desk to request a taxi to take us to an event. Didn't appear (who knows if it was even called?) and we were told it can take up to 30 minutes for a taxi so we ended up sharing a shuttle with others unexpectedly (they were kind to share). But this morning was ridiculous. We had a flight home and remembering the experience on Friday, we called the front desk at 6:30AM to request a taxi by 7AM. Another couple we didn't know, had done the same. Only one taxi showed. No organization, no help from the front desk even though we all had called. You would think they could help get transportation in a more efficient, organized manner. How can this be a convention center hotel without a trusted cab source? There were 5 adults with luggage and we crammed into this cab - very uncomfortably - but we all needed the cab to get us to the airport for the same flight and who knew when another cab would come by.

Room Tip: Try to get a building in the range of 4-6 or you will have a long walk to get to the main lobby and...

We spent a very long weekend at the Hyatt in Weston and it was a very positive experience. The staff was welcoming and efficient, the room spacious with a nice view and a balcony and a good size bathroom. Had dinner that night in the Banyan restaurant, a very good experience. Waitstaff was excellent, knew their food and did not hurry us at dinner. The food was interesting and very tasty.
Breakfast buffet was plentiful, and a fair price for what was offered, but if you are not a big eater I would not use it. The pool was nice. Parking was not a problem and at all times the staff were available and very helpful about local and area attractions.
Negatives: as with almost all hotels, the walls are thin, sound travels. No free WiFi for hotel guests. Since they advertise an eco-friendly policy (which I am all for) and do not change the linens every day, it would have been nice to have had towelbars in the bathroom.
Very nice grounds, lots of green, very attractive.

I stayed at this hotel for one night while traveling in Florida. The hotel is pretty good clean.

The rooms are spacious and some have private terraces. The bathrooms are clean and have all needed items including tooth paste.

There is a nice pool which is a bit small but still nice and there are pool chair and ping pong table.

One thing that REALLY REALY annoys me is that people would come down at 7am and reserve the good pool chairs by putting their towels on them. They would do this to almost all the chairs and they would come back hours later to use the chairs. I I hope the hotel stops people from doing this.

This hotel is pretty far from everything. Parking is a major issue and I had to park in a very car from my building.

The buffet breakfast is wicked and a great value for $15.

I would stay here again.

We spent our weekend here since every other hotel in the area was booked or over priced for Ultra Music Festival... Which is why we went down for the weekend. Since we spent the nights dancing away, we definitely needed some extra time in the morning checking out. More like late afternoon and Crystal at the front desk not only extended our check out once but twice! So thanks to to the AMAZING customer service that i received, in addition to the delightful room that was filled with warm and inviting sunlight. I would definitely stay here again if the chance came up again!

Room Tip: Not so much for the rooms but for parking, sometimes parking outside the lines isnt such a bad idea...
