The hotel offers a good all around inclusive pacakge which is affordable. Food is perfectly OK and available not only during the meal time but some sort of snack is also available in between. Drinks are good and abundant including alcoholic ones included in the package and are available around the clock. Beach is right across from the hotel (less than hundred yards) and perfectly swimmable although seaweed is a problem restricting the size of the area you can swim in. Pool is OK, and nightly shows by their entertainment staff is surprisingly good. Staff is very nice and helpful though only 1-2 are in commend of English. One being a true God sent, namely Tracy Powell at the reception. Wifi access is unexpectedly for a fee (though you may bargain) available only around the lobby, and intermittent due to weather. Rooms around the pool are small and tend to be inferior in quality and have a poor odor. The other rooms (in main building) are far superior, even nice and reasonably well equipped. The real problem is that the staff is hopelessly incompetent in maintenance, even of the simplest things, hence we experienced endless trouble in a leaking AC, faulty refrigerator, partially dysfunctional faucet, access to hot water in one room, non functional electric switches, etc. They were nice enough and moved us twice (we only stayed three nice) in time to a better room to offset the technical problems we ran into, but each room suffered from other problems among the above list.

Room Tip: avoid the rooms around the pool

Booked this hotel for a family weekend trip , the location is unbeatable , 8 minutes from the airport , has a nice beach right up front , and it is within walking distance of some restaurants , we booked the hotel as an all inclusive package , the price was a little high compared to some of the all inclusive resorts in the caribbean you can get for less and offer more .

drinks were pretty good , the food was ok , snacks are not what you would expect at your average all inclusive resort but ok .

The shows are very entertaining . Rooms are not the best , they need some work , as they seem a little outdated but if youre not picky it will do. keep in mind this is not a 5 star hotel, although it has the potential to be .

The staff is always ready to help you with tours around the island for the best price if theyre not included in your package.

Also wifi was spotty on the very first day , the manager stated the wifi was down on the whole island , but the cafe next door seemed to have no problem , wifi does come at an extra charge , 5usd for your stay , not bad ....

overall the hotel serves its purpose , service is good .

Room Tip: we had a room on what it looked like a guesthouse which was convenient , close to the pool , but without all the noise .

This is a paradise, the property is so beautiful and directly on the ocean. If your looking for a romantic place to stay. secluded yet close to the city by bus or taxi...this is it. the staff is wonderful and accommodating.

My sister, mom and I travelled to San Andres for the first time this January and were staying at El Dorado. We were very happy with the service and all the staff. Everyone was friendly and very helpful. The hotel also had great amenities, exciting shows and excellent, delicious food. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, fun, clean and entertaining time to enjoy San Andres.
