“A DIY Place”
Reviewed 26 July 2010

This is a totally "outdoor" under a roof, raw, rough sawn lumber, biker / redneck feeling do it yourself restaurant. You will experience placing your own order for drinks and beer. They do not do wine tastings. The menu is a very limited basic hot dog - hamburger and you get to experience placing the order yourself, running back to the window to pick up said order, check it for accuracy, before delivering it to your own chosen table. OK, in short it is a limited menu Dairy Queen without the air conditioning.

“They pack in the patrons”
Reviewed 26 October 2009

We visited Viele Margaritas during Oktoberfest, and on a college football Saturday. They are the only "sports bar" in town really and if you want to see some college football that is where most will head. The screens are small and they don't have a lot of sitting space so chances are you will be standing for the game and watching from a bit of a distance. They were charging a $5 cover charge which may have been because of the college football. The good news is that the beer is cheap, but they do not have much of a selection and you are mostly relegated to Bud light, Bud or Amber Bock. The beer line is not generally long, but the food line usually is. If you are waiting for food, expect a 20 minute wait. This isn't in my choices for dining, but if you need to watch sports while in Helen, this is a good bet.

“Spring Break Feel But Don't Drive Out of Helen”
Reviewed 25 October 2009

It's crowded and has a Spring Break feel, if that's what you're looking for. Big beer mugs have cheaper refillls. Food is below average bar food (burgers, etc). Just beware if you're planning on doing any partying at all in Helen... the local cops set up highway blockades on both exits out of Helen and stop very car. They try any way they can to find something to book you on, including a DUI test if you've even had one beer and illegal vehicle searches done under false pretense. Why give business to the town of Helen when White County Police do anything to screw people when they're leaving town?? Sooo not worth it. I'm never going back to give Helen another dime of my money.

“Biased and RUDE”
Reviewed 26 July 2009

this is the second time i went to this place. i was wearing a halter top, and the staff comes up to me and tells me i have to wear a shirt and its against health code to wear my top. i ask him what makes this shirt not a top. he cannot tell me, but says it is a bathing suit top. i am wearing shorts with it. i then walk over to the policeman nearby and ask him what makes my shirt not a top. he glances askance at the staff (now a lady has come up also) and says "its a bathing suit top." i reiterate again that it is not. then they offer to sell me a shirt! what a crock! as i was leaviong, the lady rudely says that no one else will let me in either. so i went across the street and took my business to someone else, who didnt say a word about my attire. i bet if i had been a man wearing this top they would not have said it was a bathing suit top. i felt very insulted and will not go here again. what kind of scam to sell shirts is this!??!

“Great spot to relax with a drink!”
Reviewed 6 July 2008

Behind Pauls, this place sits right on the water with a great view of Helen and the river. They have a large selection of already made frozen alcoholic drinks in those margarita machines...hurricanes, strawberry and peach margaritas, etc. which are great. Yes, it has counter service but that's the point. Definately the best spot in Helen to relax with friends outside.
