If you are out in about around the Grove ferry , Wingham Area then drop into the Small village Preston. it has changed little in 50 years except for yet another Housing Development. There is this Pub a Free House , run but a Family and sells local Ale along with lagers and Soft drinks, try your hand on the pool table or a game of darts.
The food looked ok and the people looked friendly and a Garden would be nice if it was not raining. So drop in on a Sunny day away from the Traffic of a Mad city and rest.

Thankyou Peter for taking time for a nice and informative review...
The housing development is quite possibly going to be the saviour of yet another country inn that went to the wall and ceased trading only 3 years ago.
We've worked hard to bring it back towards it's former beauty and just today we've been busy preparing the large rear beer garden in trimming of the lawns.
Call in again when passing as I can see your a busy traveller on your reviews.
Many thanks.
Dave, Sheila & Family.

A perfectly cooked steak dinner for 2 (to include tomato, onion rings, mushrooms and chips) plus a very acceptable bottle of Chilean merlot - all for less than £23.
I have paid the cost of the whole meal for a lesser sirloin and likewise a bottle of lousy merlot. No frills, hot plates, friendly service, a decent pint and (extra) rhubarb crumble and custard for the other half - sadly no peppermint tea - I may take my own the next time we take advantage of Tuesday steak night - and pay ‘bag-age’.
Plenty of parking - we’ll be back.

We stayed with a local couple who took us to the pub, we are not locals. The atmosphere is great very friendly welcome and lovely locals, coming from Somerset they had Thatchers Cider even better.
Dinner was delicious and well presented, the menu has lots of choice and is not to long. All the starters, main courses and puddings were well laid out and we all agreed delicious.
The waiter was fun and knowledgeable, and made the brownies, very tasty.
A real gem, all round. Thank you

We ate at the Half Moon & Seven Stars in Preston last night. We do live in Preston but had not visited the pub, I am ashamed to say, for many years.

Four of us had a fantastic meal, excellent service and a very welcoming atmosphere.

I cannot recommend it more highly. Do try it. We will definitely be going back very soon to try some of the other dishes.
