“Awesome food in a nice but noisy atmosphere.”
Reviewed 2 March 2012

We had the tuna sandwich and fish and chips. Presentation was excellent, service was excellent, and the food tasted great! Overall I would call this a perfect Saturday afternoon lunch! The grits were nice and rich and my coleslaw was crisp! the hushpuppies are crunch and soft on the inside and are a great companion to the fish and chips. I started with the chowder and was not disappointed!

I highly recommend Jonah's for a lunch if you find yourself in Thomasville.

“Shrimp and Grits Excellent”
Reviewed 25 February 2012

This restaurant is extremely popular with the locals so go early and off peak if possible. The shrimp and grits were excellent; our server took good care of us; and we enjoyed our dining experience here. They do not serve alcohol and the tables are fairly close together but you're not rubbing elbows with others. A great value!

“Never a disappointment!”
Reviewed 25 February 2012

As a local, I eat at Jonah's for lunch and dinner fairly often - I've never been disappointed! The food is always fresh and beautifully presented. The shrimp & grits is a delicious, different take on what could have been a routine menu item; the salmon - either gingersnap encrusted or topped with peach salsa - is a favorite of mine; the chowder is great comfort food; the vegetable side dish (although 'hot and spicy' from the red onion) is crisp and delicious; and the key lime pie is awesome. Come early, as we locals fill it up and the wait can be long. And, yes, it's a 'dry' restaurant, but grab a nice glass of wine or specialty beer around the corner at the Sweetgrass Dairy store beforehand to begin your evening and you'll be fine! :-)

“Great choice in Thomasville”
Reviewed 24 February 2012

Faced to choose between a 90 minute wait at Liam's (our first choice, right next to Jonah's) and 15 minutes at Jonah's we decided to go for the latter and didn't regret it. I'm not a friend of fried food in general and hush puppies in particular, but those babies here at Jonah's were excellent. We sampled two appetizers. The cyclone shrimps came with a creamy, spicy sauce and were very tasty. My wife enjoyed her fried green tomatoes. As entrees we both chose grouper. I picked the blackened grouper sandwich, which was just the right size and very yummy. She opted for the Parmesan crusted grouper (daily special) which turned out to be more than she could handle. We would have loved to sample the desserts but were too full.

Service was pleasant, quick and attentive. Note that they don't serve alcoholic beverages.

“Gourmet Grits”
Reviewed 13 February 2012

Southern cooking with a gourmet twist. Food is very good but very spicy if you have a delicate constitution. Plain decor. Very popular with locals and tourists alike. Can be crowded so go early or late.
