“Awesome Family Attraction!”

Howell Family Pumpkin Farm

Wonderful day trip with grandchildren! Lots to do and see...overall engaging creative activities. LIke the corn mazes and apple cannon target shoot. Little pig races were charming. Animated characters, pumpkins galore and loads of family sights around a pumpkin/Halloween theme. Take some water and snacks as lines for refreshments are slow to move along at peak times. Plan to spend about 20 dollars per person over 2 years old as entry fees along with specialty tokens extra. Considering all the efforts put into the theme... worth the money...in my opinion. Comfortable shoes--a must as a bit of walking and some waiting is to be expected at this favourite autumn spot. A EXCELLENT REMEDY FOR ALL AGES OF PEOPLE PRONE TO BORDOM THESE DAYS!

First, the drive to this area is amazingly beautiful.
They market this farm as having 'attractions'.... well, I guess the term is used loosely. The haunted barn was fun and the kids liked the jumping pillow.

We have been to many of these farm family fun type events ( Clovermead is one done right) and have never seen the nickel and dime sort of fleecing that we saw at Howell's. We paid $20 a person because the staff at the entrance said this included everything but once inside you discover that many of the activities cost extra!! Also, if you use debit, they charge .25 extra per transaction. Food and drink are way way overpriced.

The kids had fun but is certainly wasn't worth $20 per person. Everywhere we went we heard parents complaining, saying it was a family business and they couldn't believe what they had to pay!

This all being said, we read the reviews... mostly negative and knew this would be costly. Once we actually saw what we were paying for, a door they had painted 'complaint department' crossed out and marked 'closed' summed the whole experience up.

We were pleased with the drive the parking the admission rate all fine. The pumpkin purchase didn’t happen as the attendants didn’t know where we should pay. The train wasn’t workjng. Nor the hayride. The nature trail semi marked. The day was beautiful but I fear this is Halloween hype over pumpkin farm

Went today with kids, used a wagjag for $11 per person - for activity bracelet. A good deal, you get use of all activities except a few that require tokens.

Place is run by teenagers, not an adult to be seen. Kinda weird???

Haunted house was good, the pig race was fun, tractor ride, not much to see, them two tractor pull carts was good.

The not so good was, washrooms, not cleaned. Prices for pumpkins 45 cents a lb? way too much.

The food was expensive, and i dont mind paying extra as this is how they keep in business, but it wasn't good. .

I have to tell you this part, cause it was nuts.

You order and pay for food first, the cashier doesn't tell anyone what was just ordered, so maybe they can get it ready. Nope, then the ticket goes to a second person, who plates the buns according to your order. Doesn't tell the cook anything.

The worse part - the cook only looks at the next order, and reads it three times, it's plain to see there are three hamburger buns. She then looks at the order before and Then she puts on the hotdog or hamburgers, so you wait for it to be cooked, when it could have been ready. Someone needs to show them that if they look down the counter and count the buns, they could get that food started so you don't wait 15 minutes, the food is already cooked and only needs a few minutes. hmmm 12 hotdog buns, and 6 hamburger buns. I wonder what will go on them?? Just call out the gd order when it's paid problem solved.

Next time i'll bring my own food. They don't check anyways.

I would not pay regular price to go here, but for $11 it was well worth it.

We went to Howells for the first time and will admit that our child was fat to young to enjoy it but it was a cute little place non the less. As others mention the add ons are pricy and I found some of the attractions a tad cheesy but still a good outing. We went in the morning and there were no lines which was great.
The haunted barn is probably not great for kids under like 10 as it is completely dark in a few places and I had to navigate using just my hands which I'm sure would be vary for kids.
I'd go back and will keep an the out for future discounted tickets.
And the staff, although friendly were all clearly inexperienced so some things took longer as they really didn't know how to do them (probably lack of training I'd guess).
