At first impression, our lakefront room (#9) looked lovely and big with a delightful view of the lake. Then we realized the room definitely had some quirks, eg none of the pieces of furniture (and I think there were 7-8 pieces) matched - at all. The room looked like it was where the odd bits and pieces of furniture ended up. There was only one bedside table (the other side of the bed had a floor lamp) There was an large dining table (?!) There were several pictures on the walls, with no common theme. The bedding was dark brown, the throw pillows heavy and cumbersome, so I can't imagine these were ever washed. The light fixtures were off-centered bot hover the bed and the vanity in the bathroom. There wasn't a light in the closet - or outside it. (But there was a plug-in flashlight close by) On the bright side, the bathroom was large and had obviously had been updated - but the rest of the room badly needed it as well. Even though it was lovely to look out at the lake, it was overpriced and I wouldn't stay there again. The 2 staff members we had an interaction with were very helpful and pleasant.

Room Tip: Make sure your room is actually lakefront, not "lake view".

We booked our stay at the last minute when another accommodation was cancelled due to wildfires on Hwy 93 South in Kootenay National Park so weren't sure what to expect.
Wow! Our stay at the Lodge at Sandpointe ended up being one of our favorite lodges.

We booked a lakeview suite with mini kitchenette. Perfect place to prepare a cocktail and sit on your private deck and take in the views. Complimentary Breakfast had a great selection and could sit on the large lakefront deck.

The bed was large and very comfortable.

All employees were courteous and gracious hosts.

Would highly recommend a stay here.

Room Tip: Choose lakefront room on 2nd floor with mini kitchenette

Had a disappointing stay at this hotel. We booked a Studio Plus room described on the hotel's website as having a "partial lake view". After checking in and looking out our windows, we saw no lake view. It was only when we stood right next to the window, cranked our necks 90 degrees and looked out that we were able to catch a narrow glimpse of the lake. The hotel had clearly exaggerated the view aspect our room.

Then there was the fact that our room décor was dated and in dire need of refreshment. The spreads on the bed were limp and worn, the room was very dark, and everything about it seemed in need of updating. Given the prices this hotel charges, we expected a fresh and well decorated room.

Finally, the management seems obsessed with rules. Checking in requires the guest to sign off on any number of rules - plus there are various rules posted around the property. The management here needs to refresh its understanding of the term "hospitality". Although the desk clerks during our stay were friendly and helpful, the overall attitude of the place was cold and unwelcoming.

Thank-you for your comments-When the hotel opened 10 years ago the room in question did have an indirect view but with the growth of the trees and the installation of the tent the view has disappeared. I apologize for not having edited the description sooner-it now does not include any mention of a view.
If you'd like to give us another chance we'd be happy to put you in a lake view for the price of Rm 34.
Thanks,
Leslie

The Lodge at Sandpoint could have gotten a four star review but for our stay in room 34. Our confirmation described the room as a Studio Plus with a partial lake view. The main windows look out to a parking lot, no lake in sight. The single window between the TV and the refrigerator offers a view of a tent, some trees and the sky. There is a sliver of water in the bottom part of the attached picture. Otherwise, this is a nice enough property with an attentive staff. See picture attached.

While it's true 10 years ago when we first opened room 34 had an indirect view of the lake it's currently true with the growth of the trees and the installation of the tent it has disappeared. I apologize for not having edited our description before. You will now find the description no longer claims any view. We would be happy to put you in a lake view room at the same rate as 34 if you'd like to give us another chance.
Sincerely,
Leslie

Very disappointed. Looks great online. The cost per night (over $300 per night) for what we got was not worth the stay.
The rooms 'overlooking the lake' were blocked by trees (which could be limbed for the views). The beds were really in bad shape and bedding old and outdated. The air-conditioner would come on every 15 minutes and sound like a jet in your room. We barely slept because of the noise of the air conditioning unit and the squeaky, uncomfortable bed. The rug had been patched. The lodge needs some landscaping work (weeds as you enter). The restaurant is not a part of the lodge. The lakefront does not have much to offer.
The Sandpoint Lodge could be a wonderful destination if there was some costs put into updating the rooms and air-conditioning and making the views to the lake viable.
We travel quite a bit and don't mind spending the money when a place is worth it.
I think we will go back to VRBO's.

So sorry for your disappointment.
Thank-you for bringing the trees to our attention. It's amazing when you look out at the view every day for 10 years you don't notice the gradual loss of it.
We will get them limbed!
