Looked like a great free place to enjoy the good weather (unusual for Christmas), but most of the animals were inside that day.

Lincoln Park Zoo is one of the one of the few top zoos in the US. Surprisingly it has NO admission charges. Go there when you visit Chicago. It primate collection is among the best. Then go visit the conservatory next door and have dinner/lunch in Lincoln Park neighborhood.

Great urban zoo. It is small enough to take really small tykes and see everything in a short period of time. Close to the lake, so you can usually catch a breeze even on a hot summer day.

Winter during Christams time at the Lincoln Park zoo features a drive through lighted wonderland of animal designs in wire and highly colored light bulbs.
This zoo is very accessible and although not too large, has some very well designed displays for a good range of animals. Lions are very well exhibited and often give their roar of approval. Great place for kids and families to spend an afternoon. Seem to have a good volunteer team that helps with the public and services. All displays are well marked and placards yeild plenty of information on each animal. Rhino's to seals, this is a great facility all year round.

This zoo is smaller than Brookfield Zoo...but the animals are just as amazing. Spend time in the gorilla exhibit...spend time watching the sea lions! A great way to spend the day! Don't forget to visit the Farm in the Zoo!
