A Fabulous Find

Review of Hotel Blake
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 5, 2017
We just returned from Chicago and I can say that I would feel completely comfortable recommending this hotel to anyone. We enjoyed everything about the hotel, but can't say enough about the genuinely courteous and attentive staff. We felt welcomed and all of our needs were well attended to. I would agree that "Showtime" was an asset to our visit as he gave us outstanding recommendations on sightseeing, eating and whatever else we wanted to know about. Again though, we felt everyone was professional and took pride in their jobs. Well done to whoever is responsible for the training of staff and instilling a culture of customer care that goes beyond what one would expect.
We cannot wait to return to Chicago and the Hotel Blake!!!

The room was clean and neat. Room service was courteous and polite. However, the most amazing talent of the hotel was "SHOWTIME." He was very resourceful and polite about Chicago. He knew where to eat and direct every individual. He was a natural talent. I really enjoyed my stay and look forward to coming back when I visit Chicago again.

Room tip: Elegant and Quality Service

The staff was wonderful from check-in to check-out! The restaurant attached (can't remember name) had wonderful breakfast. The only downfalls were the crappy view out the room window and the extra cold air that we ended up shutting completely off. GREAT location and comfortable room, definitely will stay again!

Hotel Blake is located on Printer's Row, a 2 block street full of restaurants and shops ending at the old Dearborn Station. It is 1 1/2 blocks from the L and all local trains and airport Blue Line. This hotel has some of the nicest staff I've ever encountered. The night bellhop is jovial and always ready to talk about your day. The hotel has no restaurant of it's own, but Meli's is in the corner. Meli Cafe is a popular local hang out which serves all meals, has a nice selection of desserts and a bar. (If you want Sunday brunch there, don't go too late. It is packed.) The hotel is located in a beautiful historic building but the rooms are up to date and spotlessly clean. Our room had a very comfortable king bed and soft linens, a cozy arm chair and desk. I loved the bathroom because there was a huge counter to spread out my make-up and toiletries. Just a tip, I would ask for a room away from the elevators. They can be noisy although the hotel does provide the best earplugs I've ever used. (Chicagoans love to use their horns.). In the lobby, they have available lemon or cucumber water which is so refreshing, especially in the summer.

Convenient location, close to several transportation lines. Great place to stay for the weekend or longer. Plenty of great restaurants within walking distance. Friendly and helpful staff made or stay a ton of fun.

The rooms vary but ours was a nice sized room with 2 queen beds. ( we only needed one). It has a fridge and microwave. Has a desk, free wifi, a good size bathroom with a walk in shower. You are in walking distance to numerous restaurants, millineum park. They charge $55 per day for valet parking. We went to spot hero website and paid $126 total for 7 nights with in and out privileges. It was about 4-5 blocks from the hotel. I never had used it but it worked just like the website said. The hotel was nice and the restaurant attached to it had a very good breakfast. We spent $40 on a breakfast for 2. I thought that was high for breakfast. By the way, when we arrived we were greeted by "Showtime". He was great. He was very funny and did his job very well. He answered all my questions and was very informative about the area.

Room tip: We were in room 503. It had a alley view. I know some had city views.
