I stayed at the Palomar for 4 nights between April 19th and 23th 2012 and was impressed. The Palomar truly offers the service that you expect from a hotel in this class (but that you rarely get anymore these days). Whilst the rooms, lobby and the hotel overall are comparable to other hotels in its class, it is the eye for detail that sets the Palomar apart (ranging from the lighting in the room, to the daily wine reception in the lobby, to the helpful people at the reception (receptionist Indre was lovely). The Palomar is a breath of fresh air when compared to the chain Marriots or the Hiltons in the same area). Compliments to the staff of the hotel!

From a practical point of view, the hotel is very well located just two blocks away from the Magnificent Mile and next to the Grand Red metro station (with easy access to and from the airport - be it O'Hare or Midway - so no need to face the costly taxi ride and rush hour traffic).

I booked the Hotel through Hotels.com and got a very acceptable rate (GBP 112).

Room Tip: I stayed at a regular room at the 9th floor. No complains though.

We live in Chicago, but stayed here for a night for our anniversary. We were given complimentary champagne and upgraded to a spa king suite, which included a comfy and beautiful two-person spa tub. Delicious! The room was stylish, attractive, and comfortable. The robes were a nice treat, as were the snacks and wine at the manager's reception. All the folks who work there were lovely. The pool area looked great, but (and this is my only complaint) there is no hot tub. The spa in the room made up for it and more for us, but there really ought to be a hot tub...

Stayed at the Palomar April 9-11 with the family (kids 12 & 14). The hotel was very attentive to your request and just plain friendly! Pool on the 17th floor was great, too bad it was too cold to sit outside and enjoy the scenery. Have to tell you the Happy Hour each night was a pleasant surprise and the manager on duty was great to talk to and very friendly. The rooms were very nice and modern. Kids really like them. The location of the hotel can't be better, close to Michigan Avenue which besides shopping also gives you close access to just about every bus line you would want to get to things like Shedds Acquarium, the Museum of Science and Industry and other like places.

The restaurant onsite was a great appetizer place before we went out for the night, kid friendly and the food was very good. I would recommend this hotel for anyone who wants a fair value, great service, friendly staff and close proximity to just about everything! Try the Weber Grill Restaurant right across the street, it was very good!

My husband and I spent 6 nights at the Palomar Hotel recently and had a delightful experience. The staff was friendly and greeted you upon entering the hotel as well as being well versed about local eateries and places that we should see. Every morning there was complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby and in the evening there a hosted wine hour. I worked out every morning in the above average fitness room and my husband swam in the pool. Everything was top notch and if we return to Chicago, we will definitely stay here.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 10th floor and found it to be very quiet. The only complaint I heard was from a fel...

Just spent a weekend at the Palomar for my mom's 60th birthday! The hotel was great. Mentioned it was a special occasion and the Manager sent up treats to our room as well as a corner and larger room upgrade. Nice amenities as coffee in lobby and evening wine hour. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms - Great location to all Chicago has to offer.

This hotel's goal is to make sure their guests are happy. They have a nice wine happy hour with delicious appetizers from their restaurant. When you become a member of the Kimpton Hotel the owner they ask you for your pillow preference.

loved, loved, loved this hotel and the people were great. A home from home, with coffee on tap in the morning, sweets throughout the day and wine a flatbread in the evening. But what makes this hotel a must stay hotel is the people who work there. The doormen, the conceirge and the reception staff are all very friendly and made our visit to Chicago with their friendly welcome and advise on where to go and best places to eat. Rooms are very nice and the hotel is well placed for everything only a 5 minute walk to magnificent mile other great shopping streets and the best eateries in town. Would definately stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Think all rooms are probably good.
