I have been to several Vietnamese restaurants but this one was special. Went here on personal recommendation and was not disappointed. Very popular and advisable to make reservation. Being a balmy evening we choose to sit on balcony but interior of the restaurant had a very tropical ambience due to being a French Vietnamese restaurant. Our appetizer was a chicken and mushroom ravioli with a chili lime garlic sauce. Our main courses : Wide rice noodles with chicken goujouns and red peppers green onions and garlic chili sauce; Thinly sliced bbq pork with vermicelli and garlic lime fish sauce and crushed peanuts.
The wine list was extremely unique and comprised predominantly imported wines. A bottle would be nothing less than $45. Wine by the glass averaged $12. Our 2 course dinner including 2 glasses wine plus 15% tip came to $111. Not unduly expensive but definitely not cheap eat. A special place to go indeed. Look forward to going back here next time I'm in Chicago.

We got to the Restaurant just before they closed after lunch, but they where kind enough to serve us. We where an 8 person table so we ordered everything to share. Most of the plates where incredible, and the service was excellent. Will be back again on my next visit to Chicago.

The NYC version was delightful so we thought we would try the Chicago place. There is a big difference. This Chicago Restaurant is
VERY dark, so much so that I nearly fell on the stairs - there is NO lighting. You need to use your phone light to read the menu. You cannot see what you are eating.

Food tasted fresh, just wish i had been able to see it.

This is definitely not a Chicago steakhouse but the service and food are excellent. This is a French interpretation of Vietnamese food. The chicken curry, duck and sea bass were so good. Share your plates so you can try multiple dishes. Save room for dessert - mango ice and rich chocolate mousse cake. A little expensive but worth it.

Went to Le Colonial for dinner tonight and had an enjoyable experience. The food was delicious- had the goi coun ( soft salad rolls with shrimp) and the Tom cuon ram (crisp beignets stuffed with shrimp, chicken and vegetables). Nice bottle of rose wine to go with the scallop and shrimp special and the ginger marinated roast duck. Desserts and cappuccino/ espresso were excellent. All in all, a great meal was had by all. Wait staff was efficient and attentive.
