Owner description: Unique architecture for a building complex as its own self-contained community.

If you are already downtown, you can spot the corn husk towers. They are not pretty, but HOB is in the building, so the only reason I would go there is for a show.

Marina City is about half a century old, relatively new for a city with Chicago's history. Some local people refer to Marina City as the "Corn Cobb" because each balcony curves around the building. I personally haven't been in one of the condos there but have heard from several sources that the place is pretty much a dive. The apartments are (rightly so) outdated and there isn't much of anything appealing about the building. Marina City is in a pretty great location, however, and is right next to the Chicago House of Blues and other businesses.

Although instantly recognizable, view it from across the river. Known as "the corn cobs", The Marina City complex was designed in 1959 by architect Bertrand Goldberg and completed in 1964. The base of the complex hasn't aged well and it's dark, moldy and uninviting.

This building is very unique and really says Chicago. Whenever you see these towers in a movie or photo, you know its Chicago. Great views! It is in the heart of River North walkable to the best restaurants, shopping, nightlife, theatres. what more could anyone ask for? This architecture is a classic modern icon.
